Iowa and Washington meet under the Friday night lights, at Husky Stadium in Seattle. Kickoff is 9 p.m. ET, with both teams looking to bounce back from Week 5 losses.
The Hawkeyes fell 31-14 to Ohio State, while Washington lost 25-21 at USC. Both enter at 4-1, but their offensive strengths point to different paths to victory.
Below are my Iowa vs Washington prediction, odds and best bet, with a closer look at third downs, turnovers and the total.
Iowa vs Washington Prediction
- My prediction: Iowa moneyline (43¢ on Kalshi).
My Iowa vs Washington prediction starts with the price. Iowa costs 43¢ on Kalshi (approximately +133 in American odds), while Washington costs 58¢. Iowa is the road underdog, and the outright price gives the Hawkeyes a reasonable value angle in this matchup.
Iowa has the more productive offense by the key season measures available, which is one of the reasons they’re a fringe National Championship odds contender. The Hawkeyes average 28.6 points and 390.8 yards per game, compared with 26.6 points and 380.4 yards for Washington. The biggest difference is third-down execution: Iowa converts 40.3% of its attempts, while Washington converts 29%. That gap should matter if Iowa can stay ahead of the chains and avoid the kind of short possessions that defined its loss to Ohio State.
Iowa vs Washington Stats
Washington’s best argument is its turnover profile. The Huskies own a +5 turnover differential, with seven defensive interceptions and two fumble recoveries. Iowa is at +2, with four defensive interceptions and one fumble recovery. That is a meaningful home-field counter, particularly against an Iowa offense that committed two turnovers and produced only 238 total yards against Ohio State in Week 5.
Washington’s USC performance still shows why this is a competitive matchup. The Huskies managed 319 yards, including 203 passing and 116 rushing, but turned that production into a 25-21 defeat. I prefer Iowa’s more consistent drive-sustaining profile to Washington’s reliance on takeaways.
Iowa vs Washington Odds
The Iowa vs Washington college football odds have the Huskies favored, with a 2.5-point spread available on Kalshi:
Prices from Kalshi as of Oct. 9. American odds are approximate equivalents before fees. Compare prediction market apps or see the Kalshi promo code for the current offer.
The full-game total is 41.5. Iowa averages 28.6 points per game and Washington averages 26.6, giving the Over a statistical case. Both teams have also posted strong red-zone conversion rates this season: 86.7% for Iowa across 15 attempts and 84.0% for Washington across 25 attempts. Those rates include touchdowns and field goals.
Iowa vs Washington Best Bet
- Best bet: Iowa moneyline (43¢ on Kalshi).
My Iowa vs Washington best bet is Over 41.5 (50¢ on Kalshi). The full-game total is still modest relative to the teams’ combined scoring averages, and both offenses have converted efficiently in the red zone. Washington’s passing game and Iowa’s ground attack give this total two different paths to cash.
Iowa’s defensive front has recorded 13 sacks, compared with Washington’s 10, giving the visitors a way to disrupt Williams. If the Hawkeyes limit explosive passes and protect the ball better than they did against Ohio State, their third-down edge can keep the offense on the field. Washington’s interception and fumble numbers make the game volatile, but Iowa remains my outright choice, with the Over as the complementary total play.
