- The Missouri vs Kansas rivalry (on the gridiron) dates back to 1891.
- Missouri has won the last four meetings, dating back to Mizzou’s time in the Big 12.

The 25th-ranked Missouri Tigers hit the highway for a fiercely competitive non-conference showdown against the unranked Kansas Jayhawks. Both programs enter this matchup sporting unblemished 1-0 records and riding serious momentum. Kickoff is slated for 8:00 p.m. ET on September 11, 2026, at David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium.
These two rivals share an intense history, but successfully handicapping this Week 2 border showdown requires leaving emotion at the door. Both defenses limited FCS opponents in their openers, but this matchup presents a tougher test. By dissecting offensive efficiency and red zone conversion rates, I can find value on the board. If you want more of my daily sports betting picks, keep reading as I break down where my money is going.
Missouri vs Kansas Prediction
Prediction: Missouri 27, Kansas 13.
I forecast a heavy ground script where the Tigers dictate the tempo. Missouri showcased an incredibly balanced attack in Week 1, racking up 562 total yards, including 205 rushing yards. Conversely, Kansas produced 613 total yards, heavily leaning on their 277 rushing yards. However, both offenses are about to hit a brick wall relative to Arkansas Pine-Bluff and Long Island.
Jamal Roberts might not be Ahmad Hardy (who is still out after sustaining a gunshot wound in the offseason), but he is a decent facsimile. Last season, he averaged 6.1 yards per carry and rushed for six touchdowns. He also had 18 catches for 141 yards and a touchdown.
Defensively, I give Missouri the slight edge. While I cannot lean on a statistical edge, given the FBS vs FCS matchups both Kansas and Missouri played last week, Missouri did have a top-20 scoring defense last year. Mizzou has to replace (soon-to-be) NFL players in Josiah Trotter and Zion Young, but I trust Eli Drinkwitz to continue to rotate through talent on both sides of the ball and deliver the win tonight.
Missouri vs Kansas Pick
Pick: Missouri -5.5 (-109)
I am laying the points with the road Tigers. Getting this line under the key number of seven presents tremendous upside. Missouri possesses the red zone efficiency needed to capitalize on sustained drives. When you evaluate the turnover differential and the sheer physicality of their offensive line, backing Missouri to win by a touchdown or more is the smartest angle on the board.
Pick: Under 50.5 (-109)
Furthermore, I am aggressively backing the Under. Missouri allowed 14 points in its opener and Kansas allowed six. I expect the rushing attacks to help keep this matchup below the total. When two ground-heavy offenses meet, the clock rarely stops. Missouri will utilize a deliberate rushing attack to drain the clock once they secure a lead. With limited explosive plays through a passing offense expected, finding 51 points in this defensive clash is a tall order. I am locking in my position before the number drops any further.
Missouri’s quarterback, Austin Simmons, had more interceptions than touchdowns last season at Ole Miss. Even without Hardy, I expect Missouri to lean on its offensive line and Roberts to secure the win.

The current betting markets have installed the visitors as a 5.5-point road favorite. The moneyline leans heavily toward the road squad, while the total sits at a modest 50.5 points, pointing toward a balanced, moderately scoring affair.
By removing the built-in house edge, I calculate the normalized, vig-free probabilities giving Missouri a 65.7% chance to win outright, leaving Kansas with a 34.3% probability of defending their home turf.
A $20 wager on the road favorite at -218 yields a total payout of $29.17. That same $20 stake on the home underdog at +180 would return $56.00 if they pull off the upset.
Before pulling the trigger on your wagers, here is a quick look at how these teams have performed out of the gate:
| Team | Record | Points Scored | Points Allowed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Missouri | 1-0 | 54 | 14 |
| Kansas | 1-0 | 51 | 6 |
