Toledo (7-3, 6-4 ATS) and Ohio (7-3, 5-5) both need a win to stay in the MAC championship chase when they square off at the windy and cold Glass Bowl Wednesday night.

Ohio is one of three teams in the MAC with just one loss in conference play, while Toledo has two losses in conference. Both teams are trying to climb into the top two spots and advance to the conference championship.

These two teams last met in the 2022 MAC Championship, with Toledo winning 17-7. Toledo has clinched 15 straight seasons without a losing record.

The Rockets are getting some love from the sportsbooks at home. They are 1.5-point favorites at BetMGM, but 2.5 at FanDuel. That’s a big difference. The Rockets have been favored in each of their last three games but are just 1-2 against the number in that trio.

Ohio has been favored in its last three games against the bottom half of the MAC and covered all three by a comfortable margin.

The total is low for a MAC game, everywhere it’s 44.5 points. That could be due to the weather forecast. It calls for rain Wednesday morning and then gusty winds of over 20 mph by kickoff.

The best moneyline bet for Ohio is on FanDuel at +110. For Toledo on the moneyline, it’s BetMGM at -120. One interesting nugget, in three of the last four meetings, the winning team has scored 31 points or more.

Parker (Navarro) Can’t Lose

The Bobcats are led by grad senior quarterback Parker Navarro, who is a true two-way threat. He’s thrown for 1,636 yards and run for 662. He tied a school record with four touchdowns in the ‘Cats win over Central Michigan last Tuesday, and he threw for a career-high 277.

Ohio ranks No. 2 offensively in the MAC in yards and third in points at 27.6. Senior wide receiver Coleman Owen leads Ohio with 882 yards and five scores.

J&J Rockets

Toledo quarterback Tucker Gleason leads the conference in total yards per game. This is a team that likes to throw and go.

Gleason has thrown for 2,032 yards and 19 touchdowns and is the second-leading rusher on the team. He has two of the best wide receivers in the MAC in Jerjuan Newton (823 yards and 10 TDs) and Junior Vandeross III (653 and four).

The edge defensively clearly goes to the Rockets. They’re third in the MAC against the run. Keep an eye out for senior safety Maxen Hook (great name). This is his fourth year as a starter and he’s a two-time First-team All-MAC selection. He leads the Rockets in tackles.

Ohio vs Toledo Prediction

  • Toledo -1.5 at BetMGM
  • Over 44.5 at BetMGM

The Glass Bowl is one of the most underrated stadiums in college football. Built in 1937 and renovated in 1989, the place has a genuine aura, and Toledo rarely loses there.

Ohio has only won once in 17 trips to the Glass Bowl. The schools, although sharing a state, aren’t really rivals. They’re about as far apart as you can get in Ohio, over 200 miles.

We’re not that worried about the weather forecast, but if it hurts anyone, you would think it would be Toledo with their passing game. Still, we like the Rockets on defense. Stop Navarro, and you stop the Bobcats. Toledo will do that and win by a touchdown.
