After an intriguing Week 0, the 2026 college football season starts in proper next weekend, highlighted by heavyweight tilts between Clemson vs LSU and Louisville vs Ole Miss. Bettors will also be treated to the first ACC matchup of the season when SMU travels to Tallahassee to face Florida State.
The table below lists the opening Week 1 NCAAF odds for all FBS teams (moneyline, spread, and total). Under the table, find my commentary on the three biggest games of the week.
Week 1 College Football Odds
While the odds above are from DraftKings, I encourage bettors to compare the lines at prediction markets Kalshi and Polymarket, which tend to have a lower vig (though their availability will depend on your region).
As an example, LSU to win is currently trading at 79¢ (equal to -376 odds) at Kalshi, while Clemson to win is trading at 23¢ (equal to +335 odds). At DraftKings, LSU is -380 and Clemson is +300, meaning Kalshi has a better moneyline price on both teams.
The highest Week 1 game total is 66.5 in the mismatch between #20 Tennessee and FCS squad Furman. The lowest number is 45.5 in Northern Illinois vs #22 Iowa.

Opening Clemson vs LSU Odds
- Moneyline: Clemson +300 / LSU -380
- Spread: Clemson +10.5 (-110) / LSU -10.5 (-110)
- Total: 51.5 (Over -102 / Under -118)
This heavyweight non-conference collision features #11 LSU favored by 10.5 points (-380 moneyline) in the Louisiana version of Death Valley against unranked Clemson (+300), paired with a 51.5-point total. Clemson/LSU kicks off at 7:30 pm ET on Saturday, Sep. 5.
These two opened their marquee home-and-home series last season, when LSU edged Clemson 17–10 in a defensive slugfest at Memorial Stadium.
LSU boasts improved continuity compared to last season’s high-ceiling squad, relying on enhanced depth along the defensive front to complement their efficient passing attack. In contrast, Clemson enters Week 1 seeking greater offensive consistency than last year’s edition, having adjusted their scheme in the offseason to create more explosive downfield passing opportunities.
Facing a double-digit spread (+10.5), Dabo Swinney’s team must establish the run and control time of possession to neutralize Baton Rouge’s electric environment, keep LSU off balance, and stay within striking distance of an outright upset.
Opening Louisville vs Ole Miss Odds
- Moneyline: Louisville +210 / Ole Miss -258
- Spread: Louisville +6.5 (-105) / Ole Miss -6.5 (-115)
- Total: 55.5 (Over -108 / Under -112)
This premier top-25 clash pits #9 Ole Miss as nearly a touchdown home favorite (-6.5) against #24 Louisville, with a 55.5-point total indicating expectations for fireworks. Louisville vs Ole Miss rounds out a three-game Sunday slate at 7:30 pm ET.
Ole Miss enters the season looking to sustain the momentum of last year’s explosive unit, reloading through aggressive transfer portal acquisitions to maintain their high-tempo SEC identity.
Conversely, Jeff Brohm’s Cardinals aim to build upon last season’s disciplined foundation, replacing key offensive playmakers while banking on a rugged, veteran front seven to keep them competitive.
Recent history between these programs dates back to the 2021 Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game, where the Rebels pulled away for a commanding 43–24 neutral-site victory. With Louisville catching +210 on the moneyline, their path to an upset hinges on generating defensive stops against an Ole Miss roster that looks every bit as dangerous as last year’s squad.
Opening SMU vs Florida State Odds
- Moneyline: SMU -155 / FSU +130
- Spread: SMU -2.5 (-120) / FSU +2.5 (+100)
- Total: 53.5 (Over -105 / Under -115)
In a notable ACC showdown, #19 SMU travels to Tallahassee priced as a 2.5-point road favorite (-155 moneyline) against a Florida State team listed as a +130 home underdog with a 53.5 total. This game rounds out Week 1 on Monday, Sep. 7 at 7:30 pm ET.
The line reflects the contrasting trajectories of both programs: SMU returns a remarkably intact core following their solid 6-2 run in the ACC last season, maintaining continuity at quarterback and supreme speed across the perimeter.
Florida State is vastly overhauled compared to last year’s struggling unit, featuring sweeping personnel changes and fresh transfer additions across the offensive backfield and defensive secondary.
The most recent meeting between the two occurred in Dallas during the 2024 season, where SMU emphatically announced their conference arrival with a 42–16 blowout victory over the Seminoles. FSU will seek redemption in Doak Campbell Stadium, but faces a polished, confident Mustangs squad.
