No. 8 Texas Tech brings a 6-0 record to Nippert Stadium for a pivotal Big 12 clash with Cincinnati. Kickoff is set for noon ET Saturday, October 24, on FS1, and the game doubles as the Bearcats’ 100th Homecoming.

Cincinnati (4-2) looks to rebound from a 45-42 shootout loss to West Virginia. The Bearcats piled up 622 total yards in that defeat, which underlines the danger they pose offensively. Cincy has dropped back-to-back games after a furious 4-0 start.

The matchup pairs Texas Tech’s opportunistic defense with a Cincinnati offense capable of controlling the ball and producing explosive plays. Here are the current market prices and the angles I like.

Texas Tech vs Cincinnati Prediction

Texas Tech vs Cincinnati prediction: Cincinnati pulls the home upset in a game that clears 57.5 points.

Texas Tech is the clear market favorite at 80¢, and its defense has earned that respect. The Red Raiders have 11 interceptions and allow just 82 rushing yards per game, so any upset path runs through a credible unit.

Still, the Bearcats have the offense to make this a competitive game. Cincinnati has only two giveaways all season and owns a plus-five turnover margin, while Texas Tech has turned the ball over nine times. If the home team wins the possession battle, a 21¢ price leaves plenty of room for value.

Texas Tech has a defensive line that rivals any in the country, continuing a trend the Red Raiders started last season. That said, Cincinnati is uniquely situated to handle an elite defensive front as the Bearcats have one of the best offensive lines in the country. If the Bearcats can keep JC French clean, they have a shot.

Texas Tech vs Cincinnati Pick #1: Cincinnati Moneyline

Cincinnati

The Cincinnati moneyline is a value-oriented upset play, and quarterback JC French IV is the reason. He has not thrown an interception in 2026 and enters Saturday on a run of 237 straight career pass attempts without a pick. Against West Virginia, he threw for 389 yards with no interceptions. He has a QBR of 65.0 or higher in two of three Big 12 games.

That ball security matters here. Texas Tech’s defense creates turnovers, but its offense has given the ball away nine times, including five Will Hammond interceptions. If French protects the ball and Cincinnati stays close into the fourth quarter, the home underdog has a real path to the upset.

Last season in Texas Tech’s lone regular-season loss, the Red Raiders lost the turnover battle 1-0 and succumbed to four Arizona State field goals in Tempe. I think Cincinnati can follow a similar gameplan and stun Texas Tech.

Texas Tech vs Cincinnati Pick #2: Over 57.5

Over 57.5

Cincinnati’s latest game finished with 87 combined points, and the Bearcats’ run game gives this total a strong floor. Cole Tabb has 448 rushing yards, eight rushing touchdowns and 9.14 yards per carry, with three games of three or more total touchdowns. The Stanford transfer leads the Big 12 in yards per rush and is third with 10 total touchdowns.

Texas Tech should get its chances too, facing a Cincinnati defense that just allowed 45 points. The risk is a Red Raiders run defense that could slow the Bearcats, so I treat the Over as my secondary play.

The 21¢ Cincinnati price implies a 21% chance of winning, equivalent to about +376 American odds before fees. The 48¢ Over price implies 48% and is equivalent to roughly +108. With the spread and total priced close to coin flips, the biggest payout on the board belongs to the Bearcats’ moneyline.

Matchup Breakdown: Bearcats Ground Game vs Red Raiders Defense

The Texas Tech vs Cincinnati matchup hinges on whether the Bearcats can run the ball against this front. Cincinnati averages 231.2 rushing yards per game, while Texas Tech allows just 82, so something has to give at Nippert Stadium.

Tabb ran for 118 yards against West Virginia, and French adds a dual-threat element that complements the passing attack. If the Bearcats consistently pick up chunk yardage on early downs, they can control the tempo and keep Texas Tech’s offense on the sideline.

Texas Tech’s defense will have to prove it can step up against a balanced unit. The Red Raiders rely on forcing turnovers to stall drives, but Cincinnati rarely beats itself. Texas Tech must win on early downs and force third-and-long situations to keep its unbeaten record intact.
