- You can wager on which Stark will perish first in Season 8 of Game of Thrones
- Arya has the shortest odds to die first, followed by Sansa and Bran
- Who’s the best bet?
The Stark family deserves a break. Their great house has been decimated over the course of Game of Thrones, and as we approach the final season it appears the suffering is likely not finished.

Sportsbooks have released odds on the first Stark to perish in Season 8 and everyone’s favorite assassin is the heavy favorite.
First Stark to Perish in Game of Thrones Season 8
First Stark to Perish | Odds |
---|---|
Arya | -140 |
Sansa | +200 |
Bran | +250 |
*Odds taken March 23
Arya is followed by her sister Sansa and her brother Bran, but considering Bran has the shortest odds to rule Westeros and is the key to stopping the Night King, I think we can safely eliminate him from this discussion.
Arya will be in the line of fire
All Arya has ever wanted to do is follow in her brave father’s footsteps. She never wanted to be the lady of Winterfell, sitting on the sidelines while the men fought for her house. She dreamed about a life on the battlefield.
All of the training she’s endured over the last several seasons has been in preparation of the Great War to come. When it finally arrives she’ll be right in the middle of it, putting her life squarely in danger while Sansa and Bran watch from the sidelines.
Running for her life
We know Arya is looking forward to battling a new face of death, but will she bite off more than she can chew?

Whatever she’s running from in the most recent trailer is clearly more terrifying than anything we’ve seen to this point. Whether it’s deceased Starks the Night King has raised from the crypts, or something completely different, Arya is in its sights and the look of fear in her eyes hints that the end may be near.
A peak into the future
In the Crypts of Winterfell trailer that was released in January, Jon, Arya and Sansa come face to face with statues of themselves. It may just be noise, but it’s interesting that Jon’s statue looks much older, while both Arya and Sansa’s look eerily similar to their current age.

It’s possible the showrunners did this to trick the audience into believing Arya and Sansa’s death was imminent, or perhaps it really is foreshadowing the doom to come. If that’s the case I have a hard time believing Sansa would fall first, based on how heavily she’ll be protected and her lack of involvement in any serious fighting. I also can’t envision a scenario where only one of the Stark girls die, so either they both live, or Arya falls first trying to save her sister from whatever monster is chasing her.
Pick: Arya (-140)
