FURIA

In 2021, FURIA has been the best performing CS:GO team in North America. They’ve got Top 8 finishes at BLAST Premier Spring Showdown and DreamHack Masters Spring. They also recorded huge wins over G2 Esports and Astralis on their way to a top four finish at ESL Pro League Season 13. If those results aren’t impressive enough, they’re also the highest-ranking North American team on HLTV’s CS:GO World Ranking, coming in at seventh.

The first phase of cs_summit 8 is a group stage. Two groups of four will battle for six available playoff spots. FURIA should easily finish their group in first place and set themselves up nicely for playoffs. FURIA is a fairly solid bet here, but there are a couple of value picks in the other group that are worth a look.

Team Liquid

Behind FURIA, Team Liquid is the next highest NA team on HLTV’s world rankings at ninth. Since bringing on Fallen at the beginning of the year, Team Liquid has yet to really find consistent success. It’s also been over a month since we’ve seen Liquid compete in a tournament. In their last two tournaments, they crashed out before the top 8.

It was a disappointing month of April as Liquid lost to Dignitas 0-2 at the BLAST Premier Spring Showdown. Team Liquid has the name value, but we haven’t seen enough of them lately to warrant betting on them at +220. Stick with FURIA or go for a dark horse.

Extra Salt

At the beginning of the year, Extra Salt found themselves 63rd in HLTV’s rankings, but they’ve rapidly ascended into the top 20. They might not be finished climbing either. Over the past couple of months, they’ve recorded wins over O Plano, Dignitas, Godsent, forzE, paiN, and Bad News Bears.

Extra Salt is by no means an easy out, and they’ve proven to be a challenge to some of the top teams in the World. It’s uncertain if they’ll be able to hang with the likes of FURIA, but it could be time for Extra Salt to get a big tournament win.

cs_summit 8 Best Bet & Longshot

The big time dark horse of the tournament is Extremum. The team was built back in January, with the core coming from the former 100 Thieves roster. To say it’s been a rough start would be an understatement. There is however some room for hope as Extremum has played fairly well over the past couple of events. At Spring Sweet Spring 1, Extremum nearly took down Fnatic in a best of three.

Although they came up just short, it’s their most promising result since this roster was formed. We’re still waiting for this team to mesh together, but if you believe in some of the names, this wouldn’t be the worst time to put down a crazy +1200 bet.

Pick: FORZA (+155)
