  • OGA Dota Pit takes place April 22-28 in Croatia
  • Is NiP a good pick to win it all?
  • We select the best picks for the top Chinese and European teams

With the fourth Dota Major of the year coming up, all of the spots have been solidified through a series of qualifiers held by each region, all except one. The winner of the OGA Dota Pit will claim the final spot of the Major, and it kicks off April 22nd in Croatia.

There are some pretty big names in the world of Dota that will be in vying for that last spot in Paris, and the competition should be fierce. Ninjas in Pyjamas leads the way in the odds to win outright, but Gambit are close on their tail. Are either the right pick to grab the last qualifying spot to MDL Disneyland Paris? Or is there another team that you should be focusing on at the OGA Dota Pit?

Should the Ninjas be Listed as the Favorite?

Ninjas in Pyjamas are a team strung together with each player coming from a different country to compete under the legendary Swedish organization. The idea of a mixteam is something that you don’t see all too often in Dota, and though they all come from different backgrounds they seem to make it work pretty well.

They failed to qualify for the Chongqing Major and had a pretty bad showing at DreamLeague Season 11, but they have performed reasonably well in a few other big tournaments this year, like the Kuala Lumpur Major where they took home 4th, and ESL One Katowice where they placed 5-6th.

They came through the qualifier for OGA Dota Pit relatively unscathed, as they only dropped one game over two series. Out of all the teams that will be in attendance in Croatia, NiP might just have the most impressive accomplishments on the year. Though they will have some competition in Gambit, a team that has had their number so far in the season.

Can Gambit Snag the Final Spot in Paris?

Gambit is the only other team I would seriously look at to come out on top in Croatia at the OGA Dota Pit. They are one of the better teams from the CIS region, a region that has historically been very good at Dota, and they have matched up well against the other tournament contender NiP in 2019.

Holding a 2-0 record over the Ninjas in 2019, Gambit is probably feeling pretty good heading into OGA Dota Pit.

Holding a 2-0 record over the Ninjas in 2019, Gambit is probably feeling pretty good heading into OGA Dota Pit. They only dropped one game in the two meetings, and looked solid in their wins. Their streak over NiP will probably continue in Croatia, so expect the boys from the CIS to come out on top and pick up the last spot for MDL Disneyland Paris.

Finals Already a Foregone Conclusion?

I think that there are really only two teams that stand a chance to win at the OGA Dota Pit and secure the final spot in the season’s third Major, but there may actually be some sleeper teams that may be able to provide an upset en route to a finals appearance. More than likely the final should end up with the Ninjas in Pyjamas taking on Gambit, but by no means is it a sure thing.

More than likely the final should end up with the Ninjas in Pyjamas taking on Gambit.

Both teams are quite a bit further ahead than any of the other teams that will be in Croatia in terms placements on the year, and their experience should also play a factor in them finding themselves in the final come Sunday.

Value Picks to Reach the Finals

Though not likely, both Royal Never Give Up and EHOME both could find themselves playing in the final if they’re able to get out to a hot start in Croatia. Both are Chinese teams that have had relative success this season, but haven’t quite been able to get it done when it counts. If either is able to catch fire at the OGA Dota Pit, they may just find themselves playing for that final qualifying spot to Paris come Sunday.

Which Chinese Team Will Have a Better Showing?

Out of the two Chinese teams that will be in attendance at the OGA Dota Pit, I think there is only one real choice for who is going to have a better placement, and that’s Royal Never Give Up. They have been playing pretty well as of late, and actually beat EHOME 2-1 in the qualifier for the OGA Dota Pit just about a week ago.

EHOME haven’t been able to find too much success recently, so expect RNG to have a better showing in Croatia.

Put it on the Board

There is only choice here and it’s the Ninjas. They are clearly the better team of the two and it would be straight up foolish to put money on Alliance in this prop.
