  • The DreamHack Showdown begins July 5th
  • Will CLG Red be able to make it three in a row?
  • Two other squads that could come out on top in Valencia

The DreamHack Showdown runs from July 5-7 in Valencia, and will see some of the best female teams in the world of Counterstrike battle it out for the $50,000 prize for first place. The winner also will receive and invite to DreamHack Open Rotterdam, which is set to take place in October.

Heading into DreamHack Showdown, CLG Red, are listed as the favorites with +225 odds, but not far behind them in the odds table is Copenhagen Flames Female. Are the North Americans the true favorite to win out in Spain? Or is there another team that has a better chance at hoisting the trophy?

Rightfully the Favorite?

Heading into the DreamHack Showdown, CLG Red are listed as the favorites coming off of winning the last two all-female tournaments and placing second at the the third all-female tournament in 2019. They were able to find the “W” over Assassins, now the Copenhagen Flames Female, at the Copenhagen Games, and at WESG they were able to beat out the Russians, Lazarus, on their way to taking home the $60,000 grand prize.

Though they have found success this year they have gone through a few player changes along the way. The North American squad saw missharvey leave CLG Red in early March after they came second to Dignitas Female at the Intel Challenge Katowice. More recently they swapped out bENITA in favor of CAth in late May.

They have yet to play an event on LAN with CAth, so it’s unclear so far if they will be achieve the same success they found with bENITA, where they managed to find back-to-back titles. On paper CAth, is a better player, but raw stats are not always a good indication of whether the team will improve just by adding more fire power, though in this case I believe they will.

CLG Red have yet to play an event on LAN with CAth, so it’s unclear so far if they will be achieve the same success they found with bENITA.

I expect CLG Red to at minimum make it to the finals of the DreamHack Showdown, and more than likely make it three in a row. They just have such a strong team on paper, and coming off of winning the last two female events they should have all the confidence in the world.

The Other Two

There two other teams that I could see realistically being able to claim the title at the DreamHack Showdown, and they are Copenhagen Flames Female and Dignitas Female. Both teams have strong rosters on paper, and have found good results thus far in 2019.

They both offer a little better value than CLG Red, but when all is said and done, I think that the back-to-back champs will be able to get it done. They are just such a strong team in the female CSGO  scene and they have been for some time now. Expect their streak to continue in Valencia, and for CLG Red to come home with the $50,000 first place prize and the DreamHack Showdown trophy.

Pick: CLG Red (+225)
