  • DreamHack Summer begins June 15th
  • Can CR4ZY find a win under their new banner?
  • Props to keep an eye on at Dreamhack Summer

DreamHack Summer 2019 is set to take place June 15th in Sweden and will see eight teams competing for the first place prize of $50,000. Though there will be some pretty good teams in attendance with tier 3-4 teams battling it out to hoist the trophy.

Heading into the event, CR4ZY, the new name of the organization formerly known as Valiance, come in on the top of the odds table to take home their first title under their new banner. Are they the best bet to win out at DreamHack Summer 2019, Or is there another team that are more deserving of that top spot?

A Battle of Two Teams?

Out of all the teams competing at DreamHack Summer, there are two teams that should be looked at more seriously than the others to claim the trophy: CR4ZY and AVANGAR. Both teams have found success over the past few months placing pretty well at some big events, and even winning some smaller events in 2019.

Over the past two Dreamhack events, CR4ZY, managed to place 3-4th in Rio de Janeiro and came home with the silver at DreamHack Tours, falling to mousesports in the finals all under the Valiance banner. Now that they have a fresh new name maybe they will be able to finally get a taste of gold at a DreamHack event, and they stand a very good chance of doing so at DreamHack Summer.

AVANGAR, on the other hand, have actually managed to claim a DreamHack title in 2019, when they won in Brazil over hometown favorite Furia 2-1 in the grand final. They played against CR4ZY in the semifinals, back when they went by Valiance, and beat them 2-1 in what was a very close series.

I wouldn’t be surprised if by the end of the tournament these two squads end up  as the last ones standing, battling it out for the trophy in the finals. They are both in that range of, they aren’t quite a top team in the world of CSGO, but they are able to take down some of the higher ranked teams on any given day. They are kings of the tier-2 scene, and since this tournament isn’t filled with the most talented teams I would say there is a very good chance one of them adds another win to their resume come Sunday.

Pick: AVANGAR (+400)

Already a Foregone Conclusion?

As I stated before, I would not be surprised in the slightest if by the time the tournament is wrapping up that it’s CR4ZY and AVANGAR as the last two battling it out. Both teams are just a leg up on the other teams that will be in attendance. They are both near the edge of breaking through to that kind of elite area in the world of Counterstrike, and there really isn’t any other teams that will be at DreamHack Summer that are also on that level.

Value Picks to Reach the Finals

Though I think it’s very likely the finals have been set before the tournament has even started, there are some teams that may be able to upset in Sweden. The two teams I would suggest taking a look at that offer more value would be OpTic and Ancient.

OpTic have just made another roster change, putting Snappi on the bench and bringing in young Danish up and comer, TeSeS. They have looked pretty good since their previous change that saw them bring in MSL to assume IGL duties, so maybe adding the young fragger may prove to be enough to push them to the finals.

Ancient, a team made up of leftover Swedish players from the tier-2/3 scene, may actually be able to make the finals in their home country at DreamHack Summer. They have some notable players, and I think that playing at home may be extra motivation that could push them to playing for the trophy come Sunday.

Group Winners in Sweden

For this prop I would say that it’s a pretty safe bet to pick the two teams that I have been praising the entire article: CR4ZY and AVANGAR. They could certainly be upset by one of the lesser teams, but I would say it’s not very likely. If an upset was to happen though, I would say it’s more likely to happen in Group B as it’s the stronger group.

Pick for Group A: AVANGAR (+170)

Pick for Group B: CR4ZY (-105)

Which Group Will Win DreamHack Summer 2019?

Group Odds
Group A -115
Group B -115

Either Or

Both groups have the same odds to come out on top, so this prop doesn’t really offer any value either way, but since I think AVANGAR is going to come out on top I would suggest taking Group A here.

Pick: Group A (-115)
