  • KT Rolster have seen a massive jump in their odds to win the League of Legends World Championship
  • Reasons behind the big jump
  • Can the Koreans actually win the World Title?

Since the original odds for the League of Legends World Championship were released there have been some pretty big swings as to who will hoist the trophy come seasons end. One of the bigger jumps happened recently where KT Rolster was listed at +9000 odds on May 21st all the way to +3300 on June 3rd.

The Koreans have been a threat on both the domestic and international stages for years now and despite a lack luster Spring Split, they have found themselves with decent odds to win the World Title. Why the jump in their odds all of a sudden for KT? Are they actually worth putting any money on to win?

First let’s take a look at the updated odds table.

The X-Factor?

There is one reason why KT Rolster had such a jump in the odds to win the 2019 World Championship, and it is because of a legendary player coming out of retirement to join their active roster. Considered one of the best ADC’s of all-time, PraY, announced a few weeks ago that he would be returning to competitive play for KT.

He did not play in the Spring Split this year, as he announced he would be stepping away from professional League of Legends in November after he missed Worlds with KingzoneDragonX. The possibility of PraY returning to the LCK was something that seemed to be on the table after he announced his retirement, and after sitting out the first half of the season that time has finally come.

There was a lot of hype around his return to professional play and despite a very poor showing from KT Rolster in the Spring Split, a lot of people seem to think that KT can rally in the second half of the year and make it all the way to Worlds. The likelihood of them winning the Summer Split isn’t too great though I would say, it is possible they can make a run into the later rounds of the playoffs but to outright win, the chances are slim.

Now the real question: are they worth putting money on to win the World Championship this year?

The answer for that is no.

Since the placing ninth in the Spring Split, they would need to have a remarkable Summer Split to even make it to Worlds, and like I said before, the chances of them winning the Summer Split are slim.

I’m not saying it’s impossible that they can’t make it to Worlds, just very unlikely. So if you were thinking of putting some money on the World Championship, I would advise you to look at a team other than KT Rolster.

Pick: SKT T1 (+450)
