The 2021 League of Legends World Championship is down to the final eight. After FunPlus Phoenix was shockingly eliminated in the group stage, DWG KIA find themselves as the significant favorites in the LoL Worlds odds entering the quarterfinals. Behind DWG KIA are two teams from the LPL that will face off in the opening round of the playoffs. Even though one of these teams will be eliminated in a few days, Edward Gaming and Royal Never Give Up both have near identical LoL Worlds 2021 odds.

Let’s take a look at the updated betting odds for Worlds 2021.

LoL Worlds 2021 Odds

DWG KIA +110
Edward Gaming +333

T1 +550
Gen.G +1800

Cloud9 +3000

FunPlus Phoenix’s Early Exit as Worlds 2021 Favorite

Entering the group stage, FunPlus Phoenix were the favorites in the 2021 League of Legends World Championship odds. FPX was expected to finish first or second in their group and easily advance to the Knockout Stage. Instead, DWG KIA and Cloud9 advanced out of Group A, with FPX shockingly getting eliminated.

Their early exit moves the defending World Champions into the role of LoL Worlds 2021 betting favorite. They went 6-0 in groups and drew the MAD Lions in the quarterfinals, who they are heavily favored over.

DWG KIA were the only team to go undefeated in groups. Meanwhile, in Group D, MAD Lions fought tooth and nail to escape out of a four-way tiebreaker and advance to the quarterfinals. Assuming DWG KIA takes out the MAD Lions, the road will certainly get tougher. However, judging solely on their performance so far at LoL Worlds 2021, no team is currently on the level of DWG KIA.

Longshot Bets

According to the LoL Worlds 2021 odds, there are only four teams that really have a shot at winning. Of those teams, T1 poses an interesting bet. They’ve arguably looked like the second strongest team at the tournament so far, finishing first in their group and going 1-1 against Edward Gaming.

The only reason that T1 finds themselves back at +550 is because of the bracket. T1’s first-round match is against Hanwha Life Esports. The fourth seed out of the LCK has impressed so far and will pose a tougher test than teams like 100 Thieves and Detonation FocusMe from their group. If T1 were to defeat HLE, they would more than likely have to face DWG KIA in the semifinals. The last time T1 and DWG KIA faced off was in the LCK Summer Finals, where DWG KIA won 3-1.

Regardless of the bracket, each team will have to eventually defeat the strongest remaining team to win Worlds. So whether you’re facing DWG KIA in the semifinals or the finals, it shouldn’t really weigh into the Lol Worlds 2021 odds too much. So if you’re debating between Edward Gaming or T1, I’d actually take T1 as they’ve performed more consistently at Worlds 2021 so far.

It was a stressful couple of weeks for fans of Western teams, but through it all, both North America and Europe each have a team in the quarterfinals. The MAD Lions got the most difficult first round opponent in DWG KIA. Meanwhile, Cloud9 pulled arguably the weakest #1 seed in Gen.G. Even if C9 were to pull off the upset and continue their miracle run, their semifinal opponent will be another step up in difficulty. Even though they’re on the weaker side of the bracket, I still can’t pull the trigger on their +3000 odds.

LoL Worlds 2021 Best Bet & Prediction

At this point, DWG KIA looks so strong that even Edward Gaming at +333 could be considered a longshot. Oddsmakers were behind FPX as the LPL’s strongest team, but Edward Gaming are the defending LPL Champions. The LPL struggled as a whole in the second week of group stage, but the best-of-five playoffs present a new opportunity. Now it’s all about mid-set adaptation, and as proven from MSI and the 2018 & 2019 World Championship, the LPL can excel at that.

Right now, DWG KIA are playing the best League of Legends in the tournament. So even as the favorites, I’ve got to side with them at +110 in LoL Worlds 2021 odds.

Pick: DWG KIA (+110)
