  • The RSM Classic from Saint Simons Island, Georgia tees off Thursday, November 19th
  • Webb Simpson, a two-time playoff runner-up at this event is the betting favorite to win
  • We’ve narrowed down the golfers with the best chance of emerging victorious and provided the best value bets below

One week after Dustin Johnson’s historic Masters win, the PGA Tour heads three hours down the road for the RSM Classic, a tournament that often produces exciting finishes. In eight of ten times this event has been contested, there has either been a playoff or a one stroke victory.

Five of the last six champions have made the RSM Classic their maiden PGA Tour victory, including last year’s champion Tyler Duncan, who bested Webb Simpson in a playoff. Going low is mandatory for success at this venue, with the winning score the last four years averaging 19-under-par.

While there are just two golfers in the top-ten in the world rankings (Simpson, Tyrrell Hatton) teeing it up, there are some intriguing past major champions competing like Jason Day, Justin Rose, Louis Oosthuizen and Shane Lowry.

Webb Simpson Loves This Tournament

It’s actually remarkable that Webb Simpson has somehow never put his name on the RSM Classic trophy with how dominant he’s been at this tournament. Last year, he lost a playoff to Tyler Duncan, and the previous year he finished in third place.

Webb has also been a runner-up here another time, when he also lost a playoff way back in 2011 along with another top ten result in 2013. He also enters this week on a solid stretch of golf, having finished no worse than 17th in his last seven events, including top ten’s at the Masters and US Open.

While it is hard to pull the trigger on a favorite in some events when they’re sitting at a +600 or +700 ticket, getting Simpson at +1000, especially in light of his strong record at the RSM Classic is very much palpable.

RSM Classic Best Value Picks

  1. Russell Henley (+2700): Has quietly played some stellar golf of late, posting seven straight results inside the top 30, with four top ten’s, including a T-3 and a T-4 in his last three events. Has gained strokes on the field tee-to-green in 14 of his last 15 tournaments. Has had success at the RSM Classic in the past, posting three straight top ten’s from 2014-16.
  2. Dylan Frittelli (+5000): The 2019 John Deere Classic champion comes into this week in fine form, having finished in a tie for fifth at the Masters. Has gained strokes on his competitors in 13 of the last 15 tournaments approaching the green, which will give him lots of birdie opportunities here.
  3. Sam Burns (+8000): If you’re looking for a long shot to win which has happened often at the RSM Classic in the past, Sam Burns sports great value. Led his previous event after 54 holes in Houston before settling for a T-7 result. Also led the Safeway Open through 36 holes this season as well when he also ended up T-7. Gained a whopping eleven shots on the field tee-to-green in Houston.
