Team Odds
Rory McIlroy/Dustin Johnson -180
Rickie Fowler/Matthew Wolff +150

All odds taken May 14th

McIlroy and DJ Heavily Favored

It’s pretty surprising that world #1 Rory McIlroy is paired with the #5 golfer Dustin Johnson against #27 Rickie Fowler and #110 Matthew Wolff, hence the odds tilted in Rory’s favor.

Wolff does possess incredible talent as he displayed winning in just his fourth PGA Tour event last year, and would be higher in the rankings if he’d played enough events to qualify for more points.

McIlroy was red-hot before the COVID-19 pandemic halted play, racking up seven straight top-five finishes, while Wolff hasn’t had a top ten in 14 events since his first title last July. Both Fowler and DJ weren’t exactly lighting the world on fire a few months back, though Johnson did have a runner-up result four starts ago.

We already laid out that it’s best not to overthink this one, with two spectacular golfers teaming up. Plus, at +150, it’s not like you’re getting amazing odds for the underdogs to emerge victorious.

Bet on McIlroy Longest Drives

Despite McIlroy being second on tour in driving distance (average 320.2 yards), he’s not favored to win the longest drive bonus on holes 2 and 14. Obviously DJ is the conventional favorite among bettors and golf fans alike in guys who can hit it a mile, but McIlroy should be juiced up for these attractive holes.

McIlroy hits prodigious drives off the tee, and you know he’s going to be more amped up to win the $100k and $150k bonuses for those holes. Bet on some fun happening and put your faith in the stallion that is Rory to hit two drives further than the other players.

Pick: Rory McIlroy to win longest drive bonus on Holes 2 and 14 (+250)

Bet on McIlroy/Johnson to Make Most Eagles

If there was ever a bet that seems on the surface like a slam dunk, it’s probably that McIlroy and DJ will have more eagles than Fowler and Wolff.

After all, the top two leading players on tour in eagles per hole are none other than Rory and Johnson.

Meanwhile, Fowler is tied for 45th and Wolff is T-132nd in the same statistic. Go with what the stats are clearly stating here despite the super low odds.

Pick: Rory McIlroy and Dustin Johnson record the most eagles or better (-350)

Fireworks Likely to Happen

It’s obviously very unlikely a hole-in-one will occur, with there being four par-3’s on the course, meaning there’s 16 chances for someone to accomplish the feat. However, the odds are just so juicy, why not take a flier on it happening? In the skins game format, fireworks are surely to occur.

Pick: A hole-in-one is recorded (+2000)
