The third signature event on the 2025 PGA Tour calendar is the Genesis Invitational, hosted by Tiger Woods. Normally it’s played at famed Riviera Country Club, but due to the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles, Torrey Pines South Course will host a tournament for the second time in a month. Woods had originally planned to compete for the first time in an official tournament since the Open Championship in July, but announced Monday he had withdrawn.

World #1 Scottie Scheffler is betting favorite, coming off T-9 and T-25 finishes in his first two starts of 2025. Rory McIlroy, who won the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am in his last event, is the second choice. Collin Morikawa, Justin Thomas and Hideki Matsuyama round out the top-five. Tournament host Tiger Woods, who has won eight times at Torrey Pines in his career, withdrew from competing on Monday.

Will Zalatoris Comfortable On This Track

Will Zalatoris loves Torrey Pines, having been the runner-up in a playoff in 2022, T-7 in 2021 and T-13 last year. He’s also been strong at this championship, albeit when it was held at Riviera, with a T-2 and fourth place results the last two years. He enters this time at +4500 to win outright, odds that are quite enticing.

Past Five Genesis Invitational Winners

YearWinner
2024Hideki Matsuyama
2023Jon Rahm
2022Joaquin Niemann
2021Max Homa
2020Adam Scott

*Note – those winners were at Riviera Country Club. The champion at Torrey Pines last month was Harris English.

In his last twelve rounds at this venue, Zalatoris is third in strokes gained: ball striking, fourth in total strokes gained, sixth tee-to-green, and eighth in approach. Suffice to say, Torrey Pines has been kind to Zally in the past, and could be the venue for his second PGA Tour title.

Genesis Invitational 2025 Predictions, Picks and Value Bets

  1. Min Woo Lee (+6000): It’s only a matter of time before Min Woo Lee breaks through on the biggest stage, much like Thomas Detry did at the WM Phoenix Open. The last two weeks Lee has been solid, if unspectacular with a T-17 at Pebble Beach and T-12 in Phoenix. Around the world, he’s been no worse than T-27 the last nine times entering a tournament.
  2. Daniel Berger (+9000): Daniel Berger has regained the form that saw him win four PGA Tour events following a lengthy injury stint. He tied for second just last weekend at the WM Phoenix Open, which was his second runner-up in his last five tourneys. Berger also posted a T-7 at the 2021 U.S. Open at Torrey Pines, site of this weeks event.
  3. Cam Davis (+10000): The big hitting Aussie is coming off a tie for fifth the last time teeing it up at Pebble Beach, where he gained over ten strokes tee-to-green for the week. That result was his fourth top-20 in his last six PGA Tour events, which includes a pair of top-5s.
