  • See analysis of the match and who your bet should be in the story below

We’re just a week away from the much anticipated second ‘match’ between Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson, with NFL legends Peyton Manning and Tom Brady joining them to add some spice to the event. While initial opening odds had Tiger and Peyton as -200 favorites, that line has slightly gone down.

The event is named “The Match II: Champions for Charity” which will pit Tiger and Manning together in a duel against Mickelson and Brady. The golf course will be Medalist Golf Club in Florida, where Woods is a member.

Peyton and TB12 have similar golf games, with the former Colts and Broncos Super Bowl winning QB having a slight advantage over the six-time SB champ. Which duo should you place a wager on?

The Match II – Champions for Charity Odds

Team Odds
Tiger Woods & Peyton Manning -205
Phil Mickelson & Tom Brady +185

Odds taken May 20th

Mickelson Beat Tiger in First ‘Match’

Phil Mickelson is legendary for playing high stakes golf matches, where his intensity and competitiveness has resulted in him winning many matches, and money off players. The first time Woods faced Lefty in November of 2018, Mickelson emerged victorious despite being a +160 underdog. That match was tied after 18 holes, with Phil the Thrill eventually capturing the title on the fourth playoff hole.

The ‘trash talk’ was pretty tame back then, and it’s not as if they’ve figured out how to talk exceptional smack since that first competition. Case in point, this back and forth recently between the pair along with Manning and Brady.

Tiger has only played twice in 2020, finishing in a tie for ninth at the Farmers Insurance Open and last among those that made the cut at the Genesis Invitational. Given that he’s a member at the Medalist it should give him a strong edge, especially because he’s had two months to rest his body after battling back issues earlier in the year.

Manning Slightly Better Golfer Than Brady

It’s definitely more than a bit surprising that Tiger is paired with Peyton, given that the two-time Super Bowl winning quarterback is a slightly better golfer than Brady. Manning plays to a 6.4 handicap and the six-time SB winner has an 8.1 index. It has also led to some good natured ribbing between the two sure-fire hall-of fame quarterbacks.

Manning played in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am in February, finishing in a tie for 9th alongside pro Luke Donald, while Brady sat it out. That hasn’t kept TB12 from joking about not having to face his nemesis – the other Manning.

The Best Bet

Wouldn’t it be funny to see Mickelson ask Tiger to give his side a couple extra shots given that his partner is a slightly worse golfer than Tiger’s? That’s not going to happen, not with the confidence each of these legends possess.

Tiger will be seeking revenge for his loss to Mickelson two years ago so he can add to his trash talk for winning the Masters last year. It’s a course he’s very familiar with, being a member, and Peyton is a better golfer than Tom.

The choice is clear for “The Match II: Champions for Charity”

Pick: Tiger Woods/Peyton Manning Win (-205)
