  • The Valspar Championship tees off March 21st
  • Five of the top 16 players in the world competing at Valspar
  • We’ve narrowed down the golfers with the best chance of emerging victorious

Given the timing on the schedule – stuck in between the Players Championship and the WGC-Match Play – the Valspar Championship has attracted a pretty good field with the likes of Dustin Johnson, Jason Day, and Jon Rahm teeing it up (starting March 21).

With three weeks to go before the Masters, there isn’t much time to get sharp, and this event will test the players mettle.

The final three holes at the Copperhead Course, affectionately known as “the snake pit,” can extinguish the weakest players’ chances with even the slightest of hiccups.

Patrick Reed Ready for First Victory Since 2018 Masters

Patrick Reed hasn’t had the best of years, ranking 59th on the FedEx Cup list, with his best finishes in 2019 being a pair of tie-for-13th showings in January.

The brash 2018 Masters champ still hasn’t lacked for confidence, unsurprisingly.

Reed is back to the friendly confines of the Copperhead Course, where he’s had success despite never tasting victory in this event, including a heartbreaking runner-up finish last year.

Plus, if there’s any chance to show this video from last year, you have to take it.

Reed had an outside shot of winning last week’s Players Championship before a final round 78 saw him tumble down the leaderboard.

Patrick Reed’s Best Valspar Championship Finishes

Year Result
2015 T-2nd (lost in playoff)
2018 T-2nd
2016 T-7th

There’s horses for courses, however, and at +2200, there is tremendous value wagering on Reed to earn his seventh PGA Tour victory.

2019 Valspar Championship Best Value Picks

  1. Bubba Watson (+4000): There’s never not a time where these odds aren’t good for the swashbuckling lefty. Had three top-17 finishes in previous four events before a pedestrian showing at the Players Championship.
  2. Ryan Moore (+5000): Nearly won here in 2016 with a third place finish and also was fifth in 2015. Respectable outings in last three events this year and also had a runner-up showing in his first event of the campaign.
  3. J.T. Poston (+8000): Hasn’t missed a cut in eight starts in 2019. Four top 25 finishes this season and had a good Players Championship debut last week (tied 22nd.) Was a solid T-14th in Valspar debut in 2017 – didn’t play last year.
  4. Brian Harman (+12500): This week’s dart throw has considerable upside, having contended last week at the Players before dropping to an eighth place tie. Very streaky player, thus making him boom or bust.
