One week after Keegan Bradley won the Travelers Championship for his sixth PGA Tour title, the worlds best head to Detroit for the Rocket Mortgage Classic. Bradley is joined by four other players in the top-20 of the world rankings, including defending champion Tony Finau, Justin Thomas, Collin Morikawa and Max Homa.

This will be the fifth year that Detroit Golf Club will host this event. Going low is imperative to success at this track, with winning scores ranging between 18-under par and last year, Finau’s 26-under-par total was a tournament best. After this, there are just five more opportunities to crack the top-70 of the FedEx Cup list to make the postseason.

Rickie Fowler Primed To Get Back Into Winners Circle

Rickie Fowler has been playing some strikingly consistent golf, racking up top-20’s in twelve of his last 14 tournaments. Two weeks ago, he was the 54-hole co-leader at the U.S. Open, before a tough Sunday dropped into him in a tie for fifth. He’s been fantastic in several statistics and it feels like a matter of time before he gets his first PGA Tour victory since 2019.

Total Short Game Tee-To-Green Ball Striking Approach Putting
1 2 4 6 8 13

For the campaign, Fowler is ninth in birdie average and seventh approaching the green, which will be paramount to success at Detroit Golf Club, with there being so many low scores. In an ideal world his +1400 odds to win outright would be a smidge longer, but given his fantastic play of late, he’s a solid option to be in contention come Sunday.

2023 Rocket Mortgage Classic Picks and Value Bets

  1. Keegan Bradley (+2800): If Tony Finau could make this tournament his second consecutive win last year, why can’t Keegan Bradley do the same this week? The six-time tour winner has gotten much stronger with the putter, gaining shots in eight of his last eleven events on the dance floor. He’s fifth in putting and total strokes gained the last 24 rounds, and has made the cut in all three attempts at the Rocket Mortgage Classic.
  2. Austin Eckroat (+5000): Austin Eckroat has put together five straight top-30’s, with a runner-up at the Byron Nelson and a top-10 at the U.S. Open the highlights. In the last 24 rounds, he’s second in total strokes gained and sixth tee-to-green.
  3. Mark Hubbard (+7500): In the last twelve rounds, Mark Hubbard is second in SG: approach, and third in total strokes gained, of those competing in Detroit. In his last eight tourneys, Hubbard has top-30’s in all but one of them, with a pair of top-10’s. He’ll be an interesting name in the top 10/20 markets.
