  • Rory McIlroy is the clear favorite to win the 2019 Masters
  • McIlroy is faced with the added pressure of completing the career grand slam
  • Who is the best bet to slip into a green jacket on April 14th?

Despite a surprising meltdown at the 16th hole in his match against Tiger Woods at the WGC-Dell Match Play, Rory McIlroy’s average 2019 Masters odds continue to improve, and are now at +700 across a number of our most trusted sportsbooks.

Not only is the Ulsterman attempting to win his first major since 2014, but he’s also trying to become just the sixth man to complete the career grand slam, which adds to the weight of heightened expectations.

Rory McIlroy on Most Consistently Dominant Stretch of His Career

Often in sports we are prone to hyperbole – but this much is fact – Rory McIlroy has never put together such a consistently solid string of tournaments in his entire career. He’s won more in a short amount of time (see 2014 three-peat at the Open Championship, WGC-Bridgestone and PGA Championship), but he hasn’t had a run of consistency like he’s displaying now.

The crown jewel, of course, was his impressive victory at the Players Championship, tasting victory at TPC Sawgrass for the first time in his career. He was able to emerge victorious in the best field in golf despite not even having his A+ game.

It’s a scary thought for his contemporaries as he’ll stroll down Magnolia Lane with all the confidence in the world. However, adding a green jacket to his closet has thus far proven elusive for the 29-year old. He’s had his fair share of chances, but his final round 80 at the 2011 Masters stands as his most heartbreaking collapse.

It won’t yield a massive amount of money but you’d be playing with fools good not wagering on McIlroy at +750. His torrid pace almost assuredly will have him right in the thick of things come Sunday.

The Best Value Bet to Win 2019 Masters

While he’s fallen on really tough times (relatively speaking for his skill level), Jordan Spieth at +2200 still provides the best bang for your buck.

In his five appearances at the Masters, he’s gone T-2, Win, T-2, T-11, 3rd. There are horses for courses, and Spieth epitomizes that at Augusta National.
