Marbula One Benefiting from COVID-19 Shutdown

Marble One has rapidly gained in popularity since professional sports leagues around the world suspended play earlier this month due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The latest addition to the growing series of events produced by Jelle’s Marble Runs, which includes the Marble League (formerly the MarbleLympics) and Marble Rally (formerly the Sand Marble Rally), Marbula One features races pitting rival marbles against each other in a format inspired by Formula One.

The Marbula One circuit is comprised of eight races. Each race is run over multiple laps on a unique downhill track featuring a conveyor belt that returns competing marbles to the top of the track at the end of each lap. The points system used is identical to Formula One, and includes an extra point awarded to the racer who completes the course with the fastest lap time.

All Marbula One races are broadcast on Jelle’s Marble Runs’ YouTube channel, which boasts an impressive 714,000 subscribers.

All Marbula One races are broadcast on Jelle’s Marble Runs’ YouTube channel, which boasts an impressive 714,000 subscribers. Fans starving for live sports action during the current coronavirus shutdown received their first televised taste of marble racing this past weekend, as ESPN2 featured a number of events from the 2019 season, including the extremely popular Marble Rally.

Feast or Famine for Team Galactic

Team Galactic has climbed to the top of the Marbula One Team Championship odds after emerging as the only team to claim multiple race victories so far this season, taking home the checkered flag in both the season-opening Savage Speedway Grand Prix and this month’s HiveDrive Grand Prix.

However, consistency has been an issue for the brown and white squad, which has also come up pointless on two occasions this season, capped by a 19th-place finish in last weekend’s 166.15-meter Short Circuit Grand Prix.

Team Galactic has also struggled in qualifying, starting at or near the back of the grid in each of the past two races.

Savage Speeders, Hazers in the Hunt

Currently perched atop the Marbula One Team Standings, Savage Speeders sit second to Team Galactic on the odds board as a +275 bet, followed by the Hazers at +375.

Savage Speeders rocketed to the top of the standings with another steady performance this past weekend, recording a third-place finish that earned the team its third trip to the podium this season.

The Hazers have also reached the podium on three occasions this season, in each of the first three races of the season, but have struggled since. The Grey and White have accumulated just four total points over the past two races to fall to second place in the Marbula One standings, five points back of the Savage Speeders.

With one race victory and two fastest laps to their credit this season, the O’rangers are knotted with the Snowballs in fourth place in the M1 standings, and also sit fourth in the Marbula One Team Championship odds at +500.

Green Ducks have taken a step back since earning the win and recording the fastest lap at the O’raceway Grand Prix, earning just four points over the past three races, and now trail as a +600 bet.

A late-season surge has lifted Mellow Yellow into contention, and to a +800 bet. Fresh off their first win of the season at this past weekend’s Savage Speedway Grand Prix, the Snowballs are among  four teams deadlocked at +1000. They are joined by Team Primary, which has claimed the pole position on two occasions but have come away pointless in three of six races to date.
