My favorite bets tonight are the Tigers moneyline and under 8.5 runs. When evaluating the talent in the MLB starting lineups , the pitching disparity immediately points toward the home team. Keider Montero takes the mound for the Tigers, boasting a sturdy 3.83 ERA and a 1.01 WHIP across 49.1 innings. Conversely, the Angels hand the ball to Jack Kochanowicz, who has labored with a 4.55 ERA and a 1.34 WHIP over 57.1 frames.

A quick look at the offensive production reveals two lineups struggling to consistently make contact. Los Angeles enters the series with an uninspiring .225 team batting average, and Detroit is only marginally better at .233. With both offenses prone to stalling out and Montero deploying effective run-prevention, my expectations are tempered for a high-scoring shootout.

Montero has been a steadying presence in the Detroit rotation. His greatest strength is his command, evidenced by a .201 opponent batting average and just 2.55 walks per nine innings. By stifling opponent contact and rarely beating himself with free passes, he creates a distinctly higher floor in the early innings.

Meanwhile, Kochanowicz has experienced a turbulent campaign. The primary culprit for his elevated ratios is a lack of control, as he issues 4.55 walks per nine innings. This ongoing command issue routinely puts him in high-stress situations. It leaves the door open for Detroit to manufacture early runs, reinforcing my position on the moneyline.

Also working in favor of my Tigers pick, is the Angels atrocious play away from home. LA enters play sporting an 8-18 road record, while yielding 5.7 runs per game as visitors.
