  • The Braves square off with the Yankees this afternoon in the Bronx
  • Chris Sale and Gerrit Cole take the mound in an elite starting pitching duel
  • Check out the Braves vs Yankees expert picks and predictions, below

The Atlanta Braves (70-45) and New York Yankees (64-51) continue their series at Yankee Stadium today, with first pitch scheduled for 3:05 PM ET on YES Network and Braves Vision. This is Game 2 of the weekend set after New York snatched a 3-2 victory in 10 innings yesterday. The Braves saw ninth-inning home runs from Austin Riley and Matt Olson to force extra innings, but Ryan McMahon hit a walk-off sacrifice fly in the 10th to seal it for the home team.

Keep reading for my favorite Braves vs Yankees expert picks and predictions, along with the latest splits for this clash of World Series odds contenders.

Braves vs Yankees Expert Picks and Predictions

When analyzing this heavyweight interleague clash, I immediately gravitate toward the starting pitching advantage. My primary play is the Braves ML (Yes 56¢ at Kalshi). The Kalshi prediction market offers a slightly better payout than traditional sportsbooks listing Atlanta at -130. Chris Sale brings a sparkling 2.08 ERA into the Bronx and has been nearly untouchable all season. Don’t forget to claim the Kalshi referral code to score a bonus to bet on MLB.

New York counters with Gerrit Cole, who has been highly effective with a 3.42 ERA, but Sale’s elite run prevention gives Atlanta the edge. Furthermore, the Braves boast excellent situational trends, winning 80% of their last 10 games. They also hold an 8-1 record when positioned as favorites over their last nine qualifying contests.

My next target is the Under 7.5 Runs (No 50¢ at Kalshi). When two premium arms take the mound, runs are typically scarce. The Under has cashed in 80% of Atlanta’s last 10 games and 70% of New York’s last 10. Expect a playoff-style atmosphere as these aces trade zeros, making the Under a smart investment.

For my favorite player prop, I am backing Chris Sale Under 7.5 Strikeouts (+109 at Caesars). The veteran southpaw has failed to exceed 7.5 strikeouts in eight of his last 11 regular-season starts. That is a 72.7% success rate for under bettors. Getting plus-money MLB odds at Caesars makes this my most compelling player prop edge.

Braves vs Yankees Team Stats

StatisticAtlanta Braves (Road)New York Yankees (Home)

Home Runs per Game1.32 [5th]1.55 [1st]

Batting Average.240 [18th].233 [24th]
OPS.708 [15th].754 [10th]
Team ERA (Overall)3.63 [5th]3.33 [1st]

To get the most accurate picture of today’s matchup, I isolated Atlanta’s offensive statistics in away games and New York’s performance in home games. Both clubs excel at making hard contact, with the Yankees averaging an 89.0 mph exit velocity and the Braves right behind them at 88.7 mph.

However, the Yankees hold a massive advantage on the basepaths at Yankee Stadium, averaging 1.09 stolen bases per game. Atlanta plays a much more conservative style on the road, swiping just 0.53 bases per contest. Despite the impressive power metrics, neither team consistently hits for a high average in these splits.

Chris Sale vs Gerrit Cole Stats

BB/92.002.08
Opponent BA.215.227
IP/Start5.855.67

Sale comes into this matchup boasting a dominant 13-7 record alongside a stellar 1.02 WHIP over 117 innings of work. His underlying metrics support this elite surface-level production, highlighted by a 2.46 FIP.

Cole counters with a 6-7 record and a 1.10 WHIP through 13 starts. He currently sports a 9.53 K/9 rate while holding opposing hitters to a meager .227 batting average. Both pitchers are well-positioned to keep runs at an absolute premium.

When looking at MLB batter vs pitcher stats, the historical head-to-head data reveals some extreme splits for both projected MLB starting lineups.

Cole has thoroughly neutralized Matt Olson throughout their careers, holding the slugger hitless in 21 at-bats while racking up a staggering 14 strikeouts. This makes Olson a prime fade candidate in MLB player props today.

Conversely, Ronald Acuña Jr has found early success against New York’s ace, homering in his limited two-at-bat sample size. On the other side, Sale has heavily suppressed this Yankees lineup. Ryan McMahon has struck out in all three of his career at-bats against the veteran southpaw.

Braves vs Yankees Splits

Looking at the line movement, the opening moneyline was slightly tighter, with Atlanta opening at -125. Early MLB public betting splits show 64.0% of the moneyline tickets and a massive 89.5% of the total handle backing the road favorites.

When it comes to the projected score, bettors are overwhelmingly expecting offensive fireworks. The Over is currently drawing 74.5% of the ticket count and a nearly identical 75.1% of the total money. My Under prediction puts me squarely against public sentiment, but I trust these premier run-preventers to suppress the scoring.
