Erin Blanchfield aims to continue her steady rise up the UFC women’s flyweight rankings with an eight straight victory when she takes on Jessica Andrade on Saturday in the main event at UFC Fight Night 219. Blanchfield is coming off her most decisive win since making her UFC debut in September 2021, finishing Molly McCann by submission just 3:37 into their clash at UFC 281. A late addition to Saturday’s card after top-ranked UFC flyweight contender Taila Santos was forced to withdraw for personal reasons, Andrade is coming off a three-round unanimous decision win just four weeks ago at UFC 283 that marked her third win in four career fights at 125 pounds.

UFC Vegas 68 prelims get underway at 4:00pm ET on Saturday at UFC APEX in Las Vegas. The main card follows at 7:00pm ET, with all the action available on ESPN+.

Andrade vs Blanchfield Odds and Prediction

Andrade returns to action following her shortest layoff between fights in over her a decade. The former UFC women’s strawweight champion needed a full three rounds to get past Lauren Murphy last month at UFC 283, but recorded convincing first-round finishes over Amanda Lemos and Cynthia Calvillo in her previous two contests.

Blanchfield has enjoyed a meteoric rise since joining the UFC in September 2021, and has established her credentials as a submission specialists by forcing top outs in her recent dates with Molly McCann and JJ Aldrich. The 23-year-old is considered a rising star among the ladies of the octagon, but faces the toughest test of her career against Andrade.

A 10-year UFC veteran, Jessica Andrade sports one of the most impressive resumes of any fighter in the promotion’s history. Among the fighters she has faced over her career include present and past champions like Shevchenko, Rosa Namajunas, Zheng Weili, and Joanna Jędrzejczyk.

With four UFC championship fights to her credit, Andrade holds a clear edge in experience. A prolific puncher, Andrade has averaged an impressive 6.80 significant strikes landed per minute over her UFC career. She is also comfortable with level changes, and is effective at defending against level changes.

Lauren Murphy (win – unanimous decision) Fight 1 Molly McCann (win – submission)
Amanda Lemos (win – submission) Fight 2 JJ Aldrich (win – submission)

Valentina Shevchenko (loss – TKO) Fight 4 Sarah Alpar (win – unanimous decision)
Katlyn Chookagian (win – TKO) Fight 5 Brogan Walker-Sanchez (win -unanimous decision)

Blanchfield put the UFC women’s flyweight division on notice with her speedy submission win over McCann at Madison Square Garden. “Cold Blooded” has trained at jiu-jitsu and grappling since the age of seven, and is a former winner at the Eddie Bravo Invitational. However, Blanchfield has only put her vast skills on the mat on display over her past three fights, including an impressive seven-takedown performance in her unanimous decision win over Miranda Maverick at UFC 269.

The talented American also possesses plenty of punching power, but it remains to be seen how effective she is at dictating the terms of engagement against a battle-hardened veteran like Andrade.

Pick: Andrade (-190)

Wright vs Pauga Odds and Prediction

Jordan Wright is rapidly approaching a crossroads in his UFC career after falling to defeat in four of his past five fights. A threat to end matters inside five minutes every time he stepped into the cage early in his career, Wright has come out on the wrong end of first-round finishes in two of his past three outings.

Faced with a relatively unknown opponent, who has a track record of going the distance with regularity, Wright must avoid being overly eager about tallying a speedy win. Indeed, a new approach is likely in order for Wright, who must find a way to evolve his fight game to keep his spot in the UFC lineup.

Wright vs Pauga Recent Fights

Wright
VS
Pauga
Dusko Todorovic (loss – TKO) Fight 1 Mohammed Usman (loss – KO)
Marc-Andre Barriault (loss – submission) Fight 2 Markus Perez (win – unanimous decision)
Bruno Silva (loss – TKO) Fight 3 Terrance Jean-Jacques (win – unanimous decision)
Jamie Pickett (win – TKO) Fight 4 Logan Nail (win – unanimous decision)
Joaquin Buckley (loss – KO) Fight 5 Ashby Thomas (win – TKO)

Zac Pauga has some work to do to recover from a tough second-round loss on punches to heavyweight Mohammed Usman in his UFC debut at UFC Vegas 59. Riding high after opening his pro MMA career with five straight wins to go along with a pair of wins on The Ultimate Fighter – Season 30, Pauga lasted less than six minutes before getting KO’s by Usman.

Pauga was far from outclassed in his loss, outstriking Usman by a wide 32-12 margin during their brief bout. If Pauga has learned his lesson and can stay out of reach of Wright’s punches in his return to light heavyweight, he can use his experience going the distance to wear down Wright, who enters this fight in desperation mode.

Pick: Zac Pauga (-305)
