  • Mike Vrabel’s Patriots Week 1 head coach odds have shifted on Kalshi after this week’s TMZ boat video
  • His odds to be out before September are also moving in a direction that may surprise you
  • See below for the latest Vrabel coaching odds, plus my pick on the two Kalshi markets

Mike Vrabel just can’t catch a break, but the Kalshi markets are starting to give him one. TMZ dropped a new boat video of Vrabel and Dianna Russini this week, and somehow the markets are moving the other way.

Robert Kraft and the Patriots have made it clear they’re sticking with their head coach, and the prediction markets are finally listening.

Two Kalshi markets are tracking Vrabel’s job status right now, and both have moved in a direction few people saw coming a month ago.

Vrabel is trading at 73 cents on Kalshi to be the Patriots’ coach when they kick off the 2026 season. That’s the equivalent of -270 in standard betting terms. Josh McDaniels is the only other candidate with real action behind him at 23 cents, or roughly +335.

Total volume on the Week 1 market has hit $465,691, with Vrabel’s number bouncing between 65% and 77% over the last two weeks. Names like Mike Tomlin, Sean McDermott and Terrell Williams are all sitting at 3-4%, which feels more like wishful thinking than a real path.

TMZ Boat Video Failed to Move the Market

TMZ Sports broke a story earlier this week that Vrabel and Dianna Russini rented a private boat together in Putnam County, Tennessee back in June 2021. Just the two of them on the lake for two to three hours. Russini was reportedly six to seven months pregnant with her first child at the time.

TMZ followed up on May 7 with new video footage showing the two walking together on the dock before boarding. Sources said staffers at the rental company were specifically asked not to share photos because Vrabel “wanted to enjoy a private weekend.”

The Vrabel exit market briefly spiked to 30% on May 7 before coming right back down. The boat story is yesterday’s news as far as Kalshi is concerned. The damage was already priced in after the April photo dumps.

Why Kraft Isn’t Firing Vrabel

NFL insider Albert Breer said flat out on Friday that the Patriots are “definitely not” considering parting ways with Vrabel. Roger Goodell has also stepped out of it entirely, calling the situation “a personal matter” and confirming the league won’t open an investigation.

Kraft has had over a month to make a move. He hasn’t. Firing the reigning Coach of the Year a few months after a Super Bowl appearance over off-field photos isn’t happening, full stop.

The locker room has also lined up behind him. Drake Maye told reporters at the Truist Championship Pro-Am he isn’t worried about it being a distraction, calling Vrabel “a great human being.” Hunter Henry and Robert Spillane backed him publicly too. That kind of unified front from the building makes a coaching change even harder to imagine.

The Russini X-Factor

The one variable nobody can price is Russini going public with her side. Reports have her weighing exclusive sit-downs with Good Morning America, 60 Minutes, Oprah and Alex Cooper. She’s been silent since her resignation letter from The Athletic in mid-April.

Mike Florio put it best: there’s “a non-zero chance” Vrabel isn’t the coach by Week 1 if Russini decides to open up and her account doesn’t line up with his. The closer that interview gets to training camp, the more it can move these markets.

My Pick on the Vrabel Coaching Markets

The No side at 74 cents on the exit market is the closest thing to free money on Kalshi right now. Kraft has already decided Vrabel is staying, the league won’t get involved, and the locker room is in his corner. A 35% return for Vrabel simply showing up to work through August feels like a steal.

If you want even better value, the Week 1 market at 73 cents is essentially the same bet for a penny cheaper. If Vrabel makes it through August, he’s coaching Week 1. Nobody fires a head coach the week before kickoff, and Russini isn’t dropping a bombshell interview the night before opening Sunday. Either market gets you paid for the same outcome.
