The UFC continues to roll on amidst COVID-19 in Las Vegas, Nevada, this Saturday, June 13th for UFC on ESPN 10.

Jessica Eye welcomes Cynthia Calvillo to the flyweight division in the main event, where the winner could very well earn a title shot against Valentina Shevchenko.

The co-main event sees Marvin Vettori take on Karl Roberson in a rebooking of a fight that was supposed to happen in Jacksonville – which Roberson had to pull out from due to being sick.

The event is scheduled to take place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada. UFC on ESPN 10 airs live on ESPN at 9 p.m. ET. The table below shows odds for the entire card, followed by best bets for the event.

How Does Calvillo Fare in Vegas?

Jessica Eye (15-7) returned to the win column last time out with an upset win over Viviane Araujo at UFC 245. Before that, she suffered a brutal head kick knockout loss to Valentina Shevchenko at UFC 238 in Eye’s first time fighting for UFC gold.

Since the UFC created the flyweight division, “Evil” is 4-1 in the division with wins over Katlyn Chookagian, and Jessica-Rose Clark. Eye struggled at bantamweight in her UFC career where she went 1-6 and one no-contest with losses to Miesha Tate and Julianna Pena among others, and was almost cut but has fared much better at her natural weight class of 125-pounds.

Cynthia Calvillo (8-1-1) is moving up to flyweight after she missed weight before her last straw-weight bout.

Calvillo has struggled to make weight at 115-pounds, so she figured the time was now to move up. In her last fight, she fought to a draw against Marina Rodriguez and before that had wins over Cortney Casey and Polina Botelho.

There is no question Eye will be the bigger fighter and even told me she thinks that will be a factor as Calvillo won’t be able to wrestle and hold her down as she can do at straw-weight.

Can Calvillo get Eye down? If she can, the AKA product will no doubt be in for a good night but Evil has said her takedown defense is much better and plans on proving that on Saturday night.

In this fight, I expect Eye to be able to stuff the takedowns and keep the fight standing, where she is better the striker and should land the more powerful shots. This is also the first time Calvillo is preparing for five rounds and to having the extra weight could hinder her cardio.

In the end, I think Eye can keep this fight standing and piece up Calvillo on the feet to earn a decision and prove she’s the number one contender at flyweight.

Pick: Jessica Eye (-109)

Who Will Win the Grudge Match?

Marvin Vettori (14-3-1) hasn’t fought since October of last year where he beat Andrew Sanchez by decision.

Before that, he returned from a USADA suspension for a tainted supplement to beat Cezar Ferreira by decision. The Italian could very well be a top-10 middleweight if he didn’t get suspended as he has a split decision loss to the current champ in Israel Adesanya.

Karl Roberson (9-2) is on a two-fight winning streak after submitting Roman Kopylov and then beating Wellington Turman by split decision.

Vettori and Roberson do not like each other as after Roberson pulled out of the fight in Jacksonville, Vettori went after him in the hotel lobby screaming at him – setting up Saturday’s fight.

In this fight, Vettori is the better striker and should be the stronger fighter where he’ll be able to keep this fighting standing and piece up Roberson. Although Roberson is on a two-fight winning streak, the level of competition is not there and he won’t be able to deal with Vettori’s striking and pressure.

Pick: Marvin Vettori (-200)

Other UFC on ESPN 10 Picks

  • Merab Dvalishvili (-365): I don’t understand this matchup at all, as Dvalishvili will be able to outwrestle Borg and dominate him for a TKO win or a dominant decision win.
  • Andre Fili (-225): Fili vs. Jourdain could be the fight of the night but I expect Fili to land the more significant shots and win a decision or a late TKO.
  • Jordan Espinosa (-155): Espinosa is a better striker and will be able to coast to a decision win.
