After returning to a full capacity crowd in Houston, Texas the UFC returns to the Apex on Saturday, February 19 for UFC Vegas 48. The main event was supposed to see Rafael dos Anjos take on Rafael Fiziev, but Fiziev couldn’t get his visa in time, so Johnny Walker and Jamahal Hill agreed to step up in the main event and fight five rounds. Hill is favored in the UFC Vegas 48 odds.

UFC Vegas 48 airs live on ESPN+ at 7 PM EST. The table below shows UFC Vegas 48 odds for the main card at Barstool Sportsbook followed by best bets.

Jamahal Hill is priced at -278 as he has impressed in the UFC while Johnny Walker has struggled as of late and lost the hype he had after his first few UFC appearances. Kyle Daukaus is favored at Barstool Sportsbook to beat Jamie Pickett in the co-main event who took this fight on about a weeks’ notice.

Walker vs Hill Odds, Prediction & Best Bet

Johnny Walker and Jamahal Hill both are flashy strikers that can end the fight with one punch that makes this fight so intriguing. They also agreed to make this is a five-round fight on about a weeks’ notice as they were booked to be a three-round co-main event on this Fight Night card.

Walker vs Hill Recent Fights

Walker
VS
Hill
Thiago Santos, loss by decision Fight 1 Jimmy Crute, win by TKO
Ryan Spann, win by TKO Fight 2 Paul Craig, loss by submission (injury)
Nikita Krylov, loss by decision Fight 3 Ovince Saint Preux, win by TKO
Corey Anderson, loss by TKO Fight 4 Klidson Abreu, No Contest

Ahead of the Anderson fight, Walker was all the talk around the UFC and many thought he would be the person to beat Jon Jones. However, as of late, his chin has been a worry as Anderson knocked him out while Spann had dropped him and rocked him in their fight. Hill, meanwhile, has KO power but is known for his speed and his lone loss was against Paul Craig where he dislocated his elbow as he was caught in an armbar.

Walker vs Hill Stats

Walker

Hill

6’6″ Height 6’4″
82″ Reach 79″
4 UFC  Finishes 2

Although many believe this fight won’t need the scorecards, the same was said about Walker vs Santos, but the Brazilian fought a very patient fight, and didn’t take many chances. He’s now training at SBG Ireland and since then, he has been more composed and patient and isn’t throwing his flashy kicks and flying knees.

However, I expect Hill to bring the fight to Walker, as he usually does, and use his jab to piece up Walker. Once he starts landing, Hill will begin to gain confidence and start bringing it on him, and eventually late in the first or early second round, he will drop Walker and get the TKO win. Hill’s power and speed are too much for Walker to match while Walker’s chin is a concern, so Hill is a solid parlay piece along with him winning by KO/TKO.

Pick: Jamahal Hill (-278)

Daukaus vs Pickett UFC Vegas 48 Pick

The co-main event is a 195lbs catchweight bout as Jamie Pickett stepped up on about 10 days’ notice to face Kyle Daukaus, who was scheduled to fight Julian Marquez.

Daukaus & Pickett Recent Fights

Daukaus
VS
Pickett
Kevin Holland, No Contest Fight 1 Joseph Holmes, win by decision
Phil Hawes, loss by decision Fight 2 Laureano Staropoli, win by decision
Dustin Stolzfus, win by decision Fight 3 Jordan Wright, loss by TKO
Brendan Allen, loss by decision Fight 4 Tafon Nchukwi, loss by decision

When I spoke to Daukaus the day after Pickette agreed to take the fight, he said he wanted it at middleweight, but Pickett’s camp made it clear they needed it at 195lbs as they wouldn’t be able to make middleweight. That is a concern as Pickett isn’t in as good of shape as he normally would be for a fight so his cardio is something to keep an eye on.

Ultimately, this is a bad style matchup for Pickett as Daukaus is just a better version of him as he’ll be able to push Pickett up against the fence, and beat him up there and then get some takedowns. This won’t be the most exciting fight, but Daukaus will use his wrestling to control Pickett to win a decision. New York online sports betting markets list Daukaus to win at -180.

Pick: Kyle Daukaus (-230)

Other UFC Vegas 48 Picks:

  • Jim Miller (+150): Miller has the most UFC fights in history, while Motta hasn’t fought since November of 2020. I like Miller to outstrike Motta to either get a TKO or decision win.
  • Abdul Razak Alhassan (+120): This fight basically comes down to who lands first but give me the more explosive Alhassan at plus-money for the first-round KO.
  • Parker Porter (-250): This is a total mismatch as Baudot is not UFC-caliber, and Porter will get a first or second-round TKO win to extend his win streak.
