The Dubs start a four-game homestand on Wednesday against the shorthanded Atlanta Hawks (18-25, 10-13 away, 11-32 ATS) on Jan. 24 and are listed as 6.5-point favorites in the Hawks vs Warriors odds.

Golden State started the season among the top-five favorites in the NBA Championship odds (at roughly 1200) but has faded all the way to +5125 as they struggle to get back into a postseason position in the NBA playoff bracket.

Golden State Struggling Before Hiatus

Though embattled Draymond Green had recently returned to the lineup, the Warriors lost two straight before their week-long break. The most-recent was an ugly 116-107 loss at Memphis as 7.5-point road favorites. Steph Curry was solid with 26 points on 11-of-20 shooting plus eight assists but, as a team, the Warriors were extremely sloppy. They committed 19 turnovers and sent Memphis to the free-throw line 40 times, where the Grizzlies finished with a 32-9 edge in scoring.

One of the most-efficient offenses in the league over the past decade, Golden State’s mediocre output against Memphis was par for the course this season. The team sits just 13th in Offensive Rating  (116.5) and, playing much of the season without Green, their best defender, are an abysmal 24th in D-Rating (117.7).

The Memphis game was Green’s first since a month-long suspension. He had seven points, seven rebounds, four assists, and a steal in just 24 minutes while picking up four fouls.

Hawks Trying to Tread Water Without Trae

Trae Young, who leads the Hawks with 26.9 points and 10.8 assists per game, has missed two of Atlanta’s last three: a 109-108 win at Miami on Friday and a 122-107 loss at Sacramento on Monday. In between, he managed just 15 points in 24 minutes during a 116-95 setback to the Cavs.

The Miami game gives the Hawks something to feel optimistic about as they head to the Bay Area without their star point guard. Led by 22 points and 11 assists from Dejounte Murray (who was running the point in place of Young) – including the game-winning triple with two seconds on the clock –  Atlanta managed to shoot 42.9% from three to overcome a 44-38 disadvantage on the glass.

Like the Dubs, Atlanta heads into Wednesday with an above-average offense (14th in O-Rating at 116.4) and brutal defense (26th in D-Rating at 119.0). Atlanta’s -2.6 overall Net Rating is also a dismal 24th in the NBA.

Player props from the DraftKings Sportsbook app.

Wednesday’s NBA player props list Curry with a game-high 28.5 over/under point total. With Young out of the lineup, Murray is expected to shoulder the offensive load on the Atlanta side and is listed with a point total of 26.5 as a result.

Hawks vs Warriors Prediction

It’s hard to predict how a team will respond to the sort of adversity facing the Warriors right now. Basketball can take on an inconsequential feel in the wake of tragedy. But I strongly suspect we will see an inspired performance from Curry and company, honoring their late coach in the best way they can.

On the player props side, the assist total for Murray looks entirely too low at 7.5. He’s averaging 5.0 per game on the season while Young does the bulk of the ball handling. He only had six last time out while against Sacramento, but the Kings have a considerably better defense than Golden State.  Expect something close to the 11-assist performance he put up against Miami.

ATL vs GSW picks: three-leg same-game parlay Warriors to win + Curry over 28.5 points + Murray over 7.5 assists (+326 on the FanDuel app)
