  • We’ve got five NBA games to delve into on Tuesday night
  • The Knicks and Nets matchup in a battle of New York while Steph Curry and Chris Paul go head-to-head in Phoenix
  • Read below for Tuesday’s player props and best bets

Don’t be fooled by there just being five games on Tuesday night’s NBA schedule. This is a brilliant night of action in the Association, led off by the Knicks and Nets matching up at Barclays Center. While Brooklyn is comfortably favored in this one, there’s less to choose between several of the other matchups.

Even with Ja Morant out, the Memphis Grizzlies are only 4.5-point underdogs for their trip to Canada to face the Raptors. Bookies can barely split the Warriors and Suns ahead of their meeting in Phoenix. The teams with the two best records in the NBA play each other twice within the space of a few days this week.

Off the back of a much-needed win over Detroit, the Los Angeles Lakers have another favorable matchup as they head to northern California to take on the Sacramento Kings. Cade Cunningham and the Pistons are dueling with Dame Lillard and the Blazers in Oregon.

Burks Drains Threes

All the focus might have been on Kemba Walker following Tom Thibodeau’s decision to take the former Celtic out of the rotation. While that call is partly motivated by the play of young players like Immanuel Quickley and Quentin Grimes, the main beneficiary is set to be Alec Burks.

Burks was handed his first start of the season against Atlanta, posting 23 points in just under 40 minutes. With Derrick Rose and RJ Barrett both listed as questionable for the game with Brooklyn on Tuesday, Burks is set to once again play big minutes. He’s averaging just 22.2 minutes per game on the season, but he’s been effective in his relatively limited opportunities, getting up 7.3 three-point attempts per 36 and shooting north of 45% from beyond the arc.

Brooklyn is among the league leaders in opponent three-point percentage, but that’s unlikely to prove sustainable. They rank around the middle of the pack in both corner and above-the-break threes conceded.

While there will be clamor for Quickley and Grimes, Burks is likely to play the most minutes of any guard. He could get towards 40 if Rose and Barrett are out.

The former Sixer has made three or more threes in five of his seven games when he’s played over 25 minutes. Even at short odds, he’s worth backing on over 2.5 threes.

  • Pick: Alec Burks over 2.5 threes (-142)

Barnes Does It All

Mid-November wasn’t particularly kind to Scottie Barnes. His scoring numbers dropped off for a short period, but the Rookie of the Year frontrunner is back to his early-season best. He’s filling up the box score in all categories, and looks poised for another big night against the Grizz.

Memphis is one of the worst defenses in the league this season, and ranks 29th on the defensive end over the last five games. They are dead-last in opponent assists per game.

Barnes’ shot started falling against Boston, with an early career-high of four threes made. While that’s not likely to be a long-term trend, that confidence on offense could prove useful on Tuesday night. Given the occasionally quiet nights on the scoring front, though, combination props are the best way to go with Barnes.

He’s a player who can rescue a bet in any category. The rebound totals have been strong of late, and the assist numbers have been consistent. The 26.5 points, rebounds and assists line is low given his recent output – he’s gone over this in four straight games.

Barnes went past this total even when he scored just 10 points against the Warriors. It wouldn’t be a surprise if he got most of the way to this in the first half.

  • Pick: Scottie Barnes over 26.5 points, rebounds and assists (-111)
