  • Despite a Game 3 win the Toronto Raptors are still home underdogs in Game 4 vs the Cleveland Cavaliers
  • Raptors guard Immanuel Quickley (hamstring) has been ruled out for this series

It’s a biggie in Toronto Sunday afternoon, as the Toronto Raptors (46-36, 24-17 home) host the Cleveland Cavaliers (52-30, 25-16 away) in Game 4 of their Round 1 best-of-7 series, hoping to square things up at 2-2.

The books don’t seem convinced, as the Raptors are set as home underdogs in the NBA odds.

Action gets underway at 1pm this afternoon from Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, with ESPN carrying the broadcast coverage.

Despite their 126-104 blowout win in Game 3 to get back into the series, the Raptors still find themselves as underdogs, a distant +152 on the moneyline at Caesars, while getting 4.0 points on the moneyline at bet365.

A Cavs win pays out at a short -170 at DraftKings, while they are giving 3.5 points on the spread at FanDuel, which pays out at -114 odds.

The total is set at 220.5 points, with the Over paying at -110 at bet365, and the Under getting -108 odds at DraftKings.

Cavaliers vs Raptors Prediction

  • Pick: Over 220.5 points (-110 at bet365)

For the first time in this series, the backcourt tandem of James Harden and Donovan Mitchell was not the force of nature Toronto wasn’t able to handle while losing Games 1 and 2.

Mitchell was held to just 15 points on 7-for-16 shooting, a far different split than when he shot 24-for-43 from the field in Cleveland, cracking the 30-point plateau in both games.

Harden led the team in scoring with 18 points, the first time in these playoffs the Cavs have failed to produce at least on 20-point scorer. The most glaring number on his line was eight turnovers, part of 22 giveaways that Toronto converted in 23 points.

Toronto’s stars shined big time to push their way back into the series, with Scottie Barnes scoring 33 points and adding 11 dimes with five rebounds, while RJ Barrett matched his teammate, adding five assists, and going 6-for-8 from 3-point range.

It’s concerning that Brandon Ingram is still missing in this series, as he scored just 12 points on 5-for-9 shooting, and that Immanuel Quickley (hamstring) has been ruled out for the rest of this series, after missing the first three games.

At least in Game 3, head coach Darko Rajakovic found some answers on his bench, which gives him some flexibility if BI continues to flail.

Rookie Collin Murray-Boyles was sensational, dropping 22 points and eight rebounds on 11-for-15 shooting, while Toronto dusted off seldom-used Jamison Battle and he delivered. The lefty was a perfect 4-for-4 from 3-point range in the fourth quarter, to not leave the game in doubt.

Now that TO is settled and the Cavaliers need to bounce back. I expect to see the most competitive and crisp game of the series, as the stakes are high. A Cavs win gives them a chance to go home and wrap things up, while a Raptors win turns this into a best-of-3, and up for grabs.

The Over has hit in two of three games this series, and the Raptors have cashed the Over in four of six overall. The Cavaliers should be just fine trading punches. In fact, I’d argue it’s preferred: they’re a Top-4 scoring team in the regular season, and have gone Over the total in seven of their last 10.
