Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown and the Celtics duke it out with James Harden, Kyrie Irving and the Brooklyn Nets on Thursday night at the Barclays Center on TNT.

The Celtics went into the All-Star break on fire, winning four straight after beating the Toronto Raptors 132-125 last Thursday.

However, the Nets won 10 of their last 11 games going into the break after beating the Houston Rockets 132-114 in their last game.

The two teams have split the last 10 meetings down the middle with each team taking five games. Brooklyn crushed Boston 123-95 in the last one on Christmas Day. The Nets are favored by 3 points in this one, and there are more than enough props to consider.

Revenge is a Dish Best Served Cold

Narrative street is tricky, as we rarely know exactly what is going through the players minds as it pertains to matchups.

With that in mind, it’s safe to assume the revenge narrative will be strong for Kyrie Irving tonight as it was in the Christmas Day game between the Nets and Celtics. Given the season he is putting together at the moment, he has a shot to absolutely go off tonight.

In the Christmas Day game, Irving went for 37 points, eight assists, and six rebounds. That game was played before the James Harden trade, so there is another mouth to feed – but it likely won’t matter tonight. Kevin Durant and new arrival, Blake Griffin, will not be in action so it is essentially the same situation as last time for the Nets.

What can help immensely tonight is the fact that Irving’s peripheral stats have seen a boost lately. In each of his last six games, Irving has recorded at least 11 assists plus rebounds. Given his history with the Celtics and the fact that he has been contributing all over the box score lately, Irving is a good bet to go over his points plus assists plus rebounds number tonight.

  • The Pick: Kyrie Irving Over Points + Assists + Rebounds Over 37.5 (-110)

James Harden Likes to Pass Now

James Harden has never been known as a passer per say in his 12-year career, but that is changing this season. Only one time in his NBA career has he averaged double digits in the assist category but he is right at that number this season. From his first game with the Nets, it has become apparent that James Harden is more than willing to share the rock.

So far this season, Harden’s assist number came out at 10.5 for this game, which is still a little low for his usage at this point. Only one team averages more assists on a per game basis than the Nets and it is largely due to Harden.

Since joining the Nets, he has gone over that number in 17 of 23 games and given the situation tonight with Irving, he should go over the number again.

  • The Pick: James Harden Over 10.5 Assists (-135)
