It was a long few days without the NBA. The league got back underway on Thursday night with some fun games, and we can expect more of the same from a busy Friday schedule.

Four games are tipping off at 7:10 pm ET including a tip-off between Houston and Orlando. The Pacers matchup with the Thunder, a game Tyrese Haliburton and co are favored by seven points in. Toronto is on the road against the slumping Hornets, and the Spurs visit the Wizards, who are without Kristaps Porzingis and Bradley Beal.

Half an hour later, the Heat take on the Knicks at Madison Square Garden. Then there’s a duel of two of the NBA’s leading big men in Joel Embiid and Karl-Anthony Towns, before the Suns host the Pelicans and the Mavericks visit the Jazz at 9:10 pm ET. The night finishes with the Lakers and the Clippers — the Clips are favored by a single point.

Odds as of Feb 25 at FanDuel

Luka Doncic was playing his best basketball of the season before the All-Star break, and it’s no surprise to see he’s got the highest points line on Friday night at 31.5. The Slovenian is closely followed by LeBron James, who owns a points line of 30.5 which is accompanied by 8.5 rebounds and 6.5 assists.

LeBron Grabs Boards from the Five

With Anthony Davis once again sidelined, we’re bound to see a fair bit of LeBron James at the five against the Clippers on Friday night. The Clips are no strangers to smallball, making this an ideal matchup for Frank Vogel to run James in the frontcourt alongside Stanley Johnson or Carmelo Anthony for considerable chunks.

YouTube video

James’ rebounding rate increases from 11.1% in minutes with Davis to 12.5% without the former Pelican. He’s averaging 9.2 boards per game over his last 10 appearances and grabbed 11 when the Lakers and Clippers matched up back in December.

The Clippers are only an average rebounding team across the last 10 games, ranking 16th in total rebounding rate. James has shown his rebounding prowess frequently this season, particularly against smaller lineups. He’s just a couple of games removed from getting 15 boards against the Warriors, but he’s just as effective when faced with traditional bigs, as he showed against the Knicks with a majestic triple-double.

YouTube video

Given the matchup, LeBron should be in for a big night on the boards. Take the over.

  • Pick: LeBron James over 8.5 rebounds (-115)

Adebayo Keeps Producing

Bam Adebayo has been playing at a very high level since returning from injury. He’s facing a Knicks team on Friday night which ranks 22nd in defense over the last 10 games, and could potentially be without both Nerlens Noel and Mitchell Robinson.

YouTube video

Adebayo’s points and rebounds line is set at 27.5, a mark he’s passed in seven of his last eight games. He’s averaging 29.2 points and rebounds per game across the last 15.

A blowout is the biggest concern for Adebayo hitting this over. The Knicks have won just twice since January 15th, and the Heat have been ruthless in games like this. They have won six of seven, four of which were by a considerable margin.

YouTube video

Adebayo’s production over the last few weeks has gone under the radar to a degree. The numbers aren’t as outrageous as fellow bigs like Nikola Jokic and Joel Embiid, but he’s one of the most reliable night-to-night performers in the league. He optimizes the Heat’s high standards, and he should put up an impressive line against a New York Knicks team in disarray.

  • Pick: Bam Adebayo over 27.5 points and rebounds (-118)
