Future Looks Bright for Orlando
The Magic are likely to miss out on the final play-in spot in the East, but there is no shortage of optimism for what this team could accomplish down the road. Rookie of the Year odds favorite Paolo Banchero is already flashing the makings of a future star, while the likes of Franz Wagner, Jalen Suggs, Markelle Fultz, and Wendell Carter are all promising young players as well.
To put their campaign into perspective, Orlando was fighting tooth and nail to reach 20 wins at this time last season. With more improvement, Jamahl Mosley’s group could very well be a .500 organization next year. Performances like Tuesday showed the plethora of guys can score on the Magic, with seven different players finishing in double-figures. Also, every single starter had a minimum of 14 points.

The younger Wagner led the way with 20 points, while Banchero added 18, nine rebounds, and dished out eight assists. Orlando also shot the ball at a 54% clip overall and drained 96% of their 25 free throws. The type of performance to build on.
Time for New York to Lock Down
The Knicks are just barely holding onto the fifth seed in the NBA playoff bracket, which means every single game is absolutely crucial. Losses like Wednesday won’t help their case with Miami not far off New York, either.
This was the definition of a back-and-forth contest but the Heat got the last laugh. RJ Barrett balled out with 26 points while Jalen Brunson contributed 25. Julius Randle, who just had 54 a few nights ago, struggled in South Beach with just 15 points.

Tom Thibodeau’s squad had a difficult time containing Miami on the perimeter, with Jimmy Butler and Co. shooting a ridiculous 57% from downtown. While the Knicks also shot it well (40% from long range), it wasn’t enough. Their 16 turnovers proved to be costly, too. That’s now two straight losses for NY, who are in serious need of a victory in Orlando.
