  • The Lakers and Nets matchup on April 10th
  • James Harden (hamstring) is out for Brooklyn, as are LeBron James (ankle) and Anthony Davis (Achilles) for the Lakers
  • Despite weakened rosters, there’s still plenty of player prop betting value

The Lakers have slipped down the Western Conference standings with LeBron James and Anthony Davis sidelined. Kyle Kuzma (calf), Marc Gasol (hamstring) and Alex Caruso (knee) are all questionable for the reigning champions as they face the Brooklyn Nets on Saturday. Brooklyn, unsurprisingly, Brooklyn is heavily favored over the Lakers.

Kevin Durant is expected to play his second game on his return from injury. Kyrie Irving is healthy. The Nets have rarely had all their stars available, but that hasn’t stopped them taking the top seed in the Eastern Conference.

Brooklyn has lost just three games since the start of March and blew out the Pelicans a few days ago.

Irving Keeps Rolling

Kyrie Irving is playing some of the best basketball of his career. Only seven players are scoring more per game than Irving over the last 10. That’s even with relative struggles from three-point land, hitting just a third of his long ball attempts over that span. The former Cavalier and Celtic has been everything for the Nets without Harden, returning to point guard duties.

As such, he’s filled up the stat sheet. Where he was mainly an off-ball scorer and occasional isolation threat when Harden was available, Irving has shown his playmaking skill of late. He’s averaging 8.1 assists per game over his last seven appearances. This has taken him up to 6.2 assists per game for the season.

Crucially for Irving’s player props this Saturday, his production remained high even with Kevin Durant returning to the team. The All-Star guard put up 24 points and six assists in just 30 minutes against the Pelicans. He got up 14 shots and took six free throw attempts. Irving will be the Nets’ main offensive force against the Lakers, and everything will run through him.

For an added bonus, the Lakers could be without Alex Caruso. Caruso is a good defensive matchup against Irving, a player with size and mobility, capable of staying in front of him and contesting shots. The Lakers defense has remained elite even without their two stars, but keeping Irving quiet is a near-impossible task.

Irving has gone over 33.5 points and assists in six of his last nine games. He’s a great bet to pass that mark here – the Lakers should be able to keep the game close enough so the former Celtic has to play over 30 minutes.

Pick: Irving OVER 33.5 points and assists (-115)

Harris Remains Lethal

Joe Harris is somehow still forgotten about amid the Nets excitement. Harris has played in every game this season. Only Tony Snell and Joe Ingles are hitting a higher percentage from three. Harris plays solid defense, moves off-ball, and he’s more impactful than just a spot-up shooter. He’ll cut when required, and will impact the game inside, averaging 3.6 two-point attempts per game.

Harris is at 46.9% from three over the last five games and scoring 15.6 per contest over that span. There are more shots to go round with no Harden, and Harris has been one of the beneficiaries. Where the minutes of other Nets will vary by matchup and game circumstance, Harris’ gravity is crucial to how Brooklyn’s offense operates. He’s close to a lock for 30+ minutes if the game is even remotely close.

That means a lot of time and shots to get 15 or more points. Brooklyn is favored by over 10 points, and the Lakers have lost seven of their last 11. A Nets win feels like a very safe bet, and Harris getting to 15 is well worth a wager in this double.

Pick: Harris to score 15+ points and Brooklyn to win (+190
