The Los Angeles Clippers have arrived folks.

The franchise is no longer the second-rate team in Hollywood. It’s about to be an absolute show at the Staples Center for not just the Lakers, but the Clippers.

They signed Kawhi Leonard to a max contract late Friday night into early Saturday morning. That wasn’t all, though. On top of getting the 2019 NBA Finals MVP, they also made a blockbuster trade to land Paul George from the Thunder.

Wow. How can you not love the NBA?

Clippers Are Stacked

It’s more than just Leonard and George that should have the Clippers right towards the top of the Western Conference. There was already talent around them.

Lou Williams is a flat out scorer. He averaged 20 PPG in just 26 MPG off the bench. Patrick Beverley is a veteran with plenty of playoff experience.

Landry Shamet burst out on the scene in his rookie season almost out of nowhere, averaging in double figures after being traded to the Clippers.

Montrezl Harrell was tremendous off the bench last year, averaging 16.6 PPG and 6.5 RPG. He’s only 6’8″, but probably will see some time at center when the Clippers go small. They just brought back center Ivica Zubac, who is projected to be their starter.

Clippers Might Be a 60-Win Team

To say the Clippers will jump from 48 to 60 wins with two of the league’s best players on their team is far from crazy.

Seeing them win less than 55 games would actually be quite crazy. The only way that happens is if Leonard or George miss significant time with an injury.

Also, now that these two All-Stars are in the fold, you could see them get veterans at the minimum who want to win a championship.

The fact the Clippers have never won one also carries some weight. Winning a first championship for a franchise is a big deal. Leonard came to Toronto, won them a title, left and is very much a hero there for what he did.

This offseason is far from over and the Clippers could still look to round out the roster with a player or two. With what they have now, this should be close to a 60-win team. They might give Leonard his rest here and there like the Raptors did, but this team is built for 55-plus wins and a run for a potential title.

It’s going to be a fun year in Los Angeles basketball and the Clippers could be better than the Lakers.

Best Bet: Over 54.5 wins (-150)
