Bridges Leading the Way for Brooklyn

There is no question the Nets have had their fair share of doubters since trading away Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. But, one acquisition, in particular, is really proving to be a star since arriving in Brooklyn: Mikal Bridges. The former Sun is averaging 25.8 PPG, 5.0 RPG, and 2.8 RPG in 12 games with his new team while shooting a ridiculous 49% from long range.

Once again, Bridges was the leading catalyst in the win over Minnesota. He finished with a team-high 34 points while shooting 54% from the field. Spencer Dinwiddie, who also came over at the trade deadline, balled out with 29 points and 11 assists.

The Nets truly couldn’t miss a shot in this contest, draining 47% of their triples. That played a massive part in the outcome, despite getting outplayed in the paint. Four victories in the last five are definitely promising for the new-look squad, who are proving they still have what it takes to make the playoffs.

Denver Looking to Bounce Back

Although the Nuggets still remain in top spot in the Western Conference, they’ll be in search of a bounce-back performance at home. First, it was a blowout loss to the struggling Bulls and then on Friday, Michael Malone’s squad got outplayed by the rebuilding Spurs.

Nikola Jokic’s triple-double wasn’t enough to get the job done as Denver failed to pipe down inside. San Antonio out-rebounded them 50-33 and outscored the Nuggets 68-54 in the paint. Plus, the Nuggets gave up 24 second-chance points. Just not enough attention to detail.

Jamal Murray added 24 points and became the franchise leader in three-pointers in the process. Michael Porter Jr meanwhile was ejected after grabbing Zach Collins by the throat, but a suspension is unlikely. On a more positive note, Denver is an impressive 30-5 at Ball Arena. That’s a good sign for this contest.

Nets vs Nuggets Prediction

The spread is pretty steep here. While the Nuggets are 20-12-1 as an ATS home favorite, the Nets are above .500 on the road and thrive as an underdog. Denver probably takes it, but the outcome will be closer than eight points for our Nets vs Nuggets picks.

Pick: Nets +8 (-110)
