  • Anthony Davis has requested a trade from the New Orleans Pelicans
  • The LA Lakers are Davis’ preferred destination
  • Davis averaged 25.9 points, 12.0 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game in the 2018-19 season

Anthony Davis has made it clear that he does not want to play for the New Orleans Pelicans anymore, and not even the prospect of teaming up with Zion Williamson is changing his mind.

Sportsbooks have posted the odds for which team we could be seeing Davis play for when the 2019-20 NBA season tips off.

Which Team Will Anthony Davis Be on for Game 1 of the 2019-20 Season?

Which Team Will Anthony Davis Be On for 1st Game of 2019-20 Season? Odds
Los Angeles Lakers +100
Boston Celtics +200
New Orleans Pelicans +200
New York Knicks +400

Odds taken 05/28/19.

Anthony Davis has wanted out of New Orleans for quite some time now, and hasn’t gone out of his way to hide it. If anything, he has gone out of his way to voice his opinion on the situation. And now it seems that both sides are ready to move on.

LeBron Wants AD in LA

LeBron James has been speaking to players in recent weeks. Whether it’s about joining him on the Lakers, no one really knows, but he clearly wants to imporve the team’s roster. The good news for LeBron is that not only is LA Davis’ location of choice, but he also shares the same agent as James. That connection, along with LA’s weather, make the city an obvious – and attractive – landing spot for AD.

Now it’s just up to the Lakers to get a deal done. The team has a first-round draft pick of its own and plenty of young talent to potentially entice the Pelicans.

One and Done?

Many sources have stated that regardless of where Davis ends up for the 2019-20 season, he’ll be looking to sign a max contract when he becomes a free agent next summer. But his agent Rich Paul told Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN earlier this year that he “wants to be traded to a team that allows him the chance to win consistently and compete for a championship.”

What the Media is Saying

The table above shows that, between the four team listed, the odds are fairly close and the odds of Davis staying in New Orleans have gotten a little longer in the last two weeks, moving from +150 to +200. As we get closer and closer to the trade deadline, the media seem to be all-in on a trade to the Lakers.

Pick: Los Angeles Lakers (+100)
