The Oklahoma City Thunder (7-0) head to Denver to battle the Nuggets (4-3) at Ball Arena on Wednesday night at 9:00 pm ET. It’s an early season Northwest Division clash between two teams that finished atop the West last year.
The Thunder are looking to stay undefeated after a historic 7-0 start in which they’ve won every game by double digits. Meanwhile, the Nuggets aim to build on their current momentum and avenge their season-opening loss to OKC. Oddsmakers are giving a solid edge to Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the Thunder on the road.
Here is a look at our Thunder vs Nuggets prediction for Wednesday night basketball.
Thunder vs Nuggets Prediction
- Best Bet: Thunder -7.5 (-105) at BetMGM
- Lean: Under 223.5 (-110) at BetMGM
The Thunder have been absolutely dominant to open the 2024-25 campaign. They lead the NBA in net rating (+17.1), defensive rating (93.8), steals (92) and points allowed (95.9 per game). No team in NBA history had ever started 7-0 with all wins by 10+ points until now.
In contrast, the Nuggets are just 4-3 despite a relatively soft early schedule. They’ve beaten the Nets, Raptors (twice) and Jazz, but those wins have been anything but convincing. Denver has really struggled whenever Nikola Jokic is off the floor.

Injuries are also a major concern for the Nuggets in this matchup. Jamal Murray remains out in concussion protocol, while Aaron Gordon is sidelined with a calf strain. Without two starters, Denver’s depth will be seriously tested against the Thunder’s relentless defense.
In the first meeting this season, OKC thoroughly outplayed Denver in a 102-87 road victory. The Thunder held the Nuggets to 39.8% shooting and forced 19 turnovers. They’ve now won four straight in the head-to-head series.
I’m backing the Thunder to cover the 7.5-point spread tonight and leaning towards the under on the total. OKC’s defense is playing at a historically great level right now, and I expect them to stifle a shorthanded Nuggets squad here.

NBA player props from BetMGM Sportsbook on Nov. 6.
Nikola Jokic and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander have the highest points props on the board at 26.5 as they go head-to-head in this marquee matchup. Chet Holmgren’s rebounding prop is set at a lofty 10.5, showing the impact the rookie phenom is making on the glass.
A few additional props that stand out:
- Jalen Williams over 19.5 points (-120) at BetMGM: The second-year guard is averaging 18.3 ppg on 50/40/90 shooting splits. He hung 22 on the Nuggets in the opener.
- Russell Westbrook under 6.5 assists (-135) at BetMGM: Westbrook is still adjusting to his new role in Denver. The Thunder’s defense should make it tough for him to rack up dimes.
- Lu Dort over 1.5 steals (+110) at BetMGM: Dort ranks 5th in the NBA in steals and the turnover-prone Nuggets provide a juicy matchup. Love the plus odds here.
Best Oklahoma City Thunder vs Denver Nuggets Odds
Team | Spread | Moneyline | Total |
---|---|---|---|
Oklahoma City Thunder | -7.5 (-105) at BetMGM | -275 at BetMGM | Under 223.5 (-110) at BetMGM |
Denver Nuggets | +7.5 (-115) at BetMGM | +225 at BetMGM | Over 223.5 (-110) at BetMGM |
The Thunder are solid 7.5-point favorites, and -275 on the moneyline, implying a 73.3% chance of an outright OKC win. The sizable spread shows oddsmakers have a ton of respect for the Thunder right now.
OKC’s moneyline price of -275 means you’d need to wager $275 to win $100 on a Thunder victory. For Denver backers, the Nuggets +225 price represents a potential $225 payout on a $100 bet if they pull the upset.
The total of 223.5 points is on the lower end for a matchup of two typically high-scoring teams. However, the Thunder’s league-best defense seems to be impacting this line, with the under juiced to -110 odds at most books.
The NBA public betting trends show 65% of spread bets and 72% of spread handle on the Thunder -7.5 so far. The public is clearly expecting another dominant OKC performance.
BetMGM offers the best odds across the board for this game, with -105 on Thunder -7.5, +225 on the Nuggets moneyline, and standard -110 juice on the over/under 223.5.
