For the first time in these playoffs, the NBA Champion OKC Thunder are on the ropes.
After dropping a 122-115 2OT decision at home to open up the Western Conference Finals, the Thunder will try to even things up in Game 2 before the series shifts to Texas for the next two games.
Even with San Antonio’s dominance over the Thunder this year, winning five of six matchups to date, the online sportsbooks like the Thunder to bounce back, tagging them as big home favorites in the NBA odds.
Tip-off is scheduled tonight at 8:30pm ET from the Paycom Center in Oklahoma City, with NBC and Peacock broadcasting nationally.
Read below as I share the latest Spurs vs Thunder odds, as well as my prediction and best bets for Game 2.
Spurs vs Thunder Odds
The graphic above shows the best available odds, which are subject to change. Don’t forget to use theScore Bet promo code to bet on Spurs vs Thunder Game 1.
Oklahoma City enters Game 2 as a substantial home favorite, getting -230 odds at FanDuel, while the Spurs are a distant +210 on the moneyline, as well as 6.5-point road underdogs, both at Caesars. The Thunder are 6.5-point favorites and getting -110 odds at bet365.
Looking at the total, and there’s some shopping to be done. Over bettors should travel to DraftKings, where the total is set at 215.5 points. If you prefer to target the Under, head over to BetMGM, where the are offering a full point more to 216.5.
Spurs vs Thunder Prediction
- Pick: Spurs +6.5 (-110 at DraftKings)
Victor Wembanyama was unstoppable in the series opener, dropping 41 points and grabbing 24 boards in a career-high 49 minutes of work to help the road underdogs steal home-court advantage. And I don’t think the Thunder currently have an answer on how to contain the 7-foot-4 beast.
The Spurs are 5-1-0 against the spread on the road over their last six games, showcasing their ability to handle hostile playoff environments. Even more impressive, they have won four straight games outright as an underdog.
There’s some serious questions about how the Thunder can consistently score on San Antonio’s suffocating defense.
The Thunder boast the top scoring offense at 120.6 points per game and rank second in offensive rating (121.1). But they are crashing into a Spurs defense that leads the playoffs with an elite 99.5 defensive rating.
San Antonio limited freshly-minted 2-time MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander to just 7-for-23 shooting from the field and four turnovers. In fact, no Thunder starter shot better than 50% in the game, and only an improbable Alex Caruso 30-bomb kept this one from getting away from them early on.
TThunder are just 1-5-0 ATS against San Antonio over their last six head-to-head meetings.
With Oklahoma City currently sitting as a -6.5 favorite, my money is confidently on the Spurs. Even if the Thunder do even it up, it feels like they’re going to have to earn it, and it will likely come down to the wire.
Spurs vs Thunder Best Bets
Total Pick: Over 216.5 points (-105 at DraftKings): The betting trends point toward a high-scoring affair, as the over has hit in seven of the Thunder’s last nine games at home. Given San Antonio’s offensive explosion in the opener and Oklahoma City’s need to push the pace, expecting an absolute shootout is the logical angle here.
Best Prop Pick: Victor Wembanyama Over 25.5 points (-116 at DraftKings): Many wondered what Wemby would do logging more than 30 minutes per game in high-intensity situations, and we saw it The star big man has been an absolute nightmare for the Thunder to defend. Considering his massive shot volume and ability to score from all three levels, this line feels remarkably low for a player carrying his team’s offensive load.
