Phoenix is 21-5 overall and is 8-2 in its last 10 games going into Tuesday, sitting right near the top of both the Western Conference and NBA standings. The Suns are coming off of a 111-95 road loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on Monday.

Portland enters at 11-16 on the year and is just 2-8 over its last 10 contests, sitting in the bottom half of the West. The Trail Blazers most recently dropped a game at home to the Minnesota Timberwolves, 116-111, on Sunday.

Injury Report

Phoenix could be without a few key players once again Tuesday following Deandre Ayton (illness), Devin Booker (hamstring), Frank Kaminsky (knee), Dario Saric (knee) and Jalen Smith (illness) all missing Monday’s game.

Portland will once again be without CJ McCollum (collapsed lung) and Cody Zeller (patellar fracture) on Tuesday.

Can League-Leading Suns Stay Hot?

Phoenix has been one of the hottest teams in the league as of late and appear to have found whatever worked a year ago in order to make a run at an NBA title. Even with the loss on Monday, Phoenix has lost just twice since the end of October, against Golden State on Dec. 3rd and against the Clippers on Monday.

Offensively, the Suns have thrived in wins while averaging 113.3 points and shooting 48.5 percent while making 11.8 threes a game. In losses, they are averaging just 100.2 points while shooting 42.2 percent with just 8.8 threes a contest.

Chris Paul and company will have to step up if both Booker and Ayton end up missing Tuesday’s game. Paul is averaging 14.2 points, 10.1 assists and 3.8 rebounds per game, followed by Mikal Bridges with 12.3 points and four rebounds a game.

Trail Blazers Try to End Losing Skid

Portland comes into Tuesday struggling as of late to say the least, riding a five-game losing streak which is more than any other team in the conference.

Portland is in the middle of a four-game homestand, which is a good sign since it holds a record of 10-5 at home this season compared to being 1-11 on the road. The biggest obstacle for the Trail Blazers in terms of coming out with a win or not has relied on their defense. In wins, they are giving up 100.4 points and shooting marks of 43.3 percent from the field and 34.7 percent from three. In losses, they have given up 118.6 points per game and have allowed opponents to shoot 49.8 percent from the field and 40.5 percent from deep.

In the last five games – all losses – Portland has given up 116.2 points per game while averaging just 99 points on the other end. That’s a trend it hopes to correct against Phoenix.

Individually, Damian Lillard continues to do it all for the Trail Blazers, leading the team with 21.6 points, 7.7 assists and 4.3 rebounds a game. Without McCollum, Norman Powell has been a nice pairing with Lillard, adding 17.3 points per contest.

Prediction and Best Bet

Even though Portland has been solid at home this year, it is still welcoming in one of the best teams in the league. Phoenix has looked unstoppable of late, which will make things tough on Tuesday even though it is on the second night of a back-to-back and might be shorthanded. In the end, the Suns should still be able to come out on top.

For the best bet of the night, go with the line set of 2.5 points in favor of Phoenix. The Suns should be able to take care of business and cover that spread.

  • The Pick: Phoenix -2.5 (-110)
