Teams that fall behind 3-1 in best-of-seven series are only 13-279 all-time, which is just a 4.5% win rate. The winner of Sunday’s Game 7 will face the #6 Minnesota Timberwolves in the second round of the NBA playoff bracket. If the Rockets win, the series will start in Houston. If the Warriors win, the series will start in Minneapolis.

Houston went almost wire-to-wire in a must-win Game 6, taking a 25-21 lead after the first quarter and never trailing thereafter in a 115-107 victory. Veteran point guard Fred VanVleet turned back the clock once more. After dropping 25 points on 61.5% shooting in Game 4 and 26 points on 66.7% shooting in Game 5, the 31-year-old had a series-high 29 points on 53.8% shooting in Game 6, leading all Rockets.

Alperen Sengun added 21 points, a game-high 14 rebounds, and six assists.

Steph Curry had a team-high 29 points in a losing effort for the Dubs while Jimmy Butler added 27. No other Warrior had more than 13 points. Golden State finished -4 on the glass, -5 in turnovers, and shot 24 fewer free-throw attempts, though a big part of that was intentionally sending Steven Adams (46.2 FT%) to the line 16 times. The 31-year-old Kiwi made Steve Kerr pay for his hack-a-Shaq imitation, hitting 56.3% of his free-throw attempts (9-of-16).

The Warriors, who were +1400 fourth-favorites in the NBA championship odds after taking a 3-1 series lead, faded all the way to +2500 after losing Game 6 at home. The Rockets improved to +5000 to win their first NBA title since 1995.

Game 7 between Golden State and Houston will tip-off at 7:40 pm CT/8:40 pm ET at the Toyota Center on Sunday, May 4th, with TNT providing broadcast coverage.
