Villanova Betting Outlook

Villanova has covered each of its four games in the NCAA Tournament. The Wildcats are 20-3 straight-up in the NCAA since 2016.

Villanova will be playing without junior guard Justin Moore, who suffered a torn Achilles in the win over Houston. He finished the season averaging 14.8 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.3 assists.

Moore is second on the team in scoring to senior guard Collin Gillespie, who has a 15.6 average and is also dishing 3.3 assists a contest. Houston held Gillespie to six points, his third-lowest total of the season, on 1-of-6 shooting, including 0 for 4 on three-pointers.

Gillespie is listed at +9000 in the Wooden Award odds.

Senior forward Jermaine Samuels picked up the slack with 16 points and 10 rebounds for his fourth double-double of the season. Samuels is averaging 11.1 points and 6.5 rebounds.

In four games of the tournament, Samuels is scoring at 17.5-point clip. He was named the Most Outstanding Player of the South Region.

Senior guard Caleb Daniels had a season-high in field goal attempts last weekend and went just 4 of 16 while finishing with 12 points, six rebounds and four assists. His season scoring average is 10.2

Villanova won despite shooting 28.8% (15 of 52) from the field but was a perfect 15 of 15 at the foul line. The Wildcats limited Houston to 17 of 59 (29.8%) overall and 1 of 20 (5.0%) from beyond the arc.

Kansas Betting Outlook

Kansas has been the winning side against the spread in six of its last eight games but is just 2-2 versus the number in the NCAA Tournament. The Jayhawks have gone 44-16 S-U in the NCAAs under coach Bill Self.

Ochai Agbaji led the way against Miami as Kansas stormed back from a 35-29 halftime deficit by outscoring the Hurricanes 47-15 in the final 20 minutes. The senior guard had 18 points, five rebounds, four assists and four steals.

Agbaji’s performance came two days after he scored a season-low five points in a win over Providence. For the season, Agbaji is averaging 18.9 points and 5.2 rebounds a game.

Agbaji’s Wooden Award odds are +1200.

Senior forward David McCormack scored 15 points despite being listed as questionable before the game because of a stiff neck. He has averages of 10.1 points and 6.8 rebounds.

Junior guard Christian Braun added 12 points, six rebounds and four assists, lifting his season averages to 14.3, 6.5 and 2.7.

Senior guard Remy Martin scored just nine points Sunday but grabbed six rebounds and was named MOP of the Midwest Region for his strong floor game.

Kansas shot 50.0% (29 of 58) while holding Miami to 34.5% (19 of 55) and out-rebounding the Hurricanes 41-28.

A fourth Jayhawks player who is scoring in double figures is sophomore forward Jalen Wilson at 11.0. He also leads the team with 7.4 rebounds a game.

Villanova vs Kansas Prediction

Villanova has won four of five meetings with Kansas since 2013. The last matchup came on Dec. 21, 2019, and the Wildcats notched a 56-55 victory at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia.
