On Thursday, January 26th, these squads duel it out for the first time this year at 5:00 pm ET from the Spiro Sports Center in Staten Island, New York.

Although they are tied for fourth in the conference, Wagner own the best overall record and point differential amongst any team in the Northeast Conference. With a lowly 2-8 record when not at home, St. Francis are 9.5-point underdogs for this one.

St. Francis Terriers Good Bet to Hit Under

Make no bones about it, this Terriers squad has a brutal offense. According to the KenPom rankings, they rank 356th in adjusted offensive efficiency in the nation. That’s out of 363 teams, putting them in the bottom 2% in the entire country.

When your leading leading scorer is putting up just 11.4 points per game, you know you’re in trouble. Senior Rob Higgins leads the way for the Brooklyn side, but doesn’t get much help as only one other Terriers’ player averages double digits. Adding to the Terriers woes is the fact Higgins has now missed the last five games with injury.

They have hit the under in 13 of 18 games where their odds have been posted. That means you’d be winning 72.2% of your bets if you picked them to go under in the college basketball odds this season.

If you’re trying to find one thing that the Terriers do with relative consistency this year, it’s go under the betting line.

Wagner Winning and Covering Spread

While Wagner is ranked 77 spots higher in the overall KenPom rankings, it’s not like we’re looking at a contender in the odds to win the NCAA tournament here. They may just be the best squad in the Northeast Conference come season’s end though.

The Seahawks have taken three straight contests after losing three in a row. They have also covered the spread in each of their previous three wins delivering double digit victories in the last two.

Unfortunately for Wagner, one thing they do share in common with the Terriers is a porous offense. With an adjusted offensive efficiency of just 96.4, the Seahawks rank 320th among all Division I programs according to KenPom.

Their effective field goal percentage places them 345th and they play at a turtle’s pace with an adjusted tempo of 63.6 that ranks them 336th in the country. Basically, they’re in the the bottom 10-15% of teams in the nation in every offensive category.

St. Francis (NY) vs Wagner Pick & Prediction

While all signs point to this game going under the total in the betting line, it’s curious to note the the over has hit in each of the last five head-to-head meetings.

Another interesting note from the recent matchups between these two sides, is that the underdog has covered each of the last six times.

However, we think that trend comes to an end on Thursday. Wagner are on a roll and the Terriers not only have to deal with a better side on the road, but they’re also nursing injuries to key players. Our prediction is to take the Seahawks to win big.

Pick: Wagner Seahawks -9.5 (-117)
