Another week of college football, and another week as a heavy betting favorite for Alabama. It’s important to note, the Crimson Tide have struggled against the spread on the road as of late, going 0-3 dating back to last season. Additionally, 86% of spread bets as of writing like the Tide to cover.

Alabama Betting Trends

Another week of college football, another dominant performance from the Alabama Crimson Tide. After the Crimson Tide looked suddenly mortal in a disappointing performance at Texas, head coach Nick Saban had his guys ready to play last weekend. The Tide rolled over Vanderbilt last week, coming away with a dominant 55-3 victory.

After narrowly escaping a monumental upset in Texas, the Crimson Tide put together their most complete game of the season against Vanderbilt. Their performance came at just the right time.

Quarterback Bryce Young looked surgical against the Commodores. Dicing up the Vanderbilt defense to the tune of 385 yards and four touchdowns. Sophomore receiver Ja’Corey Brooks caught six passes for 117 yards and two touchdowns and freshman running back Jamarion Miller added two late touchdowns to complete the rout. Offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien’s offense is a well-oiled machine.

On the other side of the football, all-world defensive end Will Anderson Jr. continues to add to his resume. A presumed top-5 NFL draft pick next April, Anderson decimated the Commodores’ offensive line. The Georgia native had three tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks in yet another powerful performance. In particular, it will be tough for the Arkansas offense to score, as the Alabama defense ranks third nationally in points per game (7.3), second in yards per game (201.3), and first in yards per play surrendered (3.2).

Ultimately, the question becomes just how far can Bryce Young and Will Anderson take this Crimson Tide team.

Arkansas Betting Trends

Arkansas has to be ruing missed opportunities after their loss to Texas A&M last weekend. While leading the game 14-7, Arkansas quarterback K.J. Jefferson fumbled the football trying to leap over the goal line. His fumble was returned 97 yards for a touchdown that changed the complexion of the entire game.

Other than the fumble. Jefferson was extremely efficient. He consecutive touchdown passes on each of the Hogs’ first two drives to open the game and added 109 yards rushing on the night. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough.

Nonetheless, there are many reasons to be optimistic for the Razorbacks, especially while playing at home. Arkansas’s defense still possesses the front seven to give this explosive Alabama offense trouble. Their sack rate is top 5 in the nation, and the Hogs are 4-1 against the spread in their last five games at home.

Alabama vs Arkansas Pick

Ultimately, there are far too many betting trends backing the under to ignore. The under is 4-0 in the Crimson Tide’s last four games after scoring 40 or more points. Additionally, the under is 5-0 in Alabama’s last five while playing an opponent with a winning record. Moreover, the under is 8-3 in the Razorbacks’ last 11 following a straight up loss.

As good as Alabama looked last week at home, the Crimson Tide looked shaky on the road in Texas just a few weeks ago. We’re leaning towards betting on both Arkansas to cover and the under in this one.

Pick: Alabama vs Arkansas UNDER 61.5 (-110)
