Bulldogs Are Country’s Best

Georgia is undefeated on the season following an excellent first half to the season. The Bulldogs have strung together seven straight wins, including a 30-13 victory over Kentucky last time out. Kirby Smart’s team failed to cover the spread against the Wildcats as -21.5 favorites, but are 5-2 ATS overall.

The Bulldogs have been dominant in every facet this season, outscoring their opponents by a combined total of 269-46. UGA is averaging almost 40 points per game on offense, while allowing an FBS-best 6.57 points per game on defense. UGA boasts nine five-star prospects on defense, including Heisman longshot Jordan Davis.

The Bulldogs have been beating up opponents despite missing several key players to injury. QB JT Daniels (back) has been limited to only three games, while WR’s Dominick Blaylock (hamstring) and George Pickens (knee) are out indefinitely. Backup QB Stetson Bennett has been impressive with Daniels out, throwing for 996 yards and 11 TDs with two picks.

Gators’ Mullen on Hot Seat

Dan Mullen’s seat in Florida is getting warm ahead of the World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party rivalry game against UGA. The Gators are 2-6 in their last eight games against Power 5 teams following a 49-42 loss to LSU in Week 9. UF entered the game as 12.5-point favorites, but failed to cover the spread for the fourth time this season.

Florida started strong this season with wins over Florida Atlantic and South Florida, but have since lost three of their past five games. The Gators were gashed for 454 yards of total offense by LSU, including 321 rushing yards. UF’s offense has been efficient, averaging over 500 yards per game, but the defense is a big concern.

Florida is dealing with some quarterback issues after both Emory Jones and Anthony Richardson threw two interceptions against the Tigers. Jones has thrown for 1,305 yards and 10 TDs with nine interceptions, while Richardson has played a more important role in the ground game, rushing for 348 yards and three TDS on just 28 carries.

Georgia vs Florida Betting Pick & Prediction

There are questions about the quarterback position for both teams entering this big Week 9 showdown in Jacksonville. If there’s one thing that’s certain, however, it’s that this UGA defense is flat-out dominant and one of the best we’ve seen in college football in quite some time.

Taking a look at the recent head-to-head results for Georgia vs Florida, UGA has won three of the past four meetings, covering the spread in each victory. The Gators ended the Bulldogs’ winning streak last year thanks to big performances from QB Kyle Trask and TE Kyle Pitts. Those two players led a historic 2020 UF offense, but have both departed for the NFL.

Florida has relied primarily on their running game this season, which is going to play into the hands of UGA. The Bulldogs rank second in the nation in rushing defense (63.4 YPG) and have bottled up some of the nation’s top ground games. Kirby Smart’s team also ranks top-20 in both sacks and interceptions, and should feast on UF’s turnover-prone QB’s.

UGA’s defense makes all the headlines, but they’ve got some playmakers on offense with RB Zamir White and freshman TE Brock Bowers. The Bulldogs defense should continue doing what it’s done all season, while the offense will make a few big plays against this susceptible UF secondary. Back Georgia to win by at least two touchdowns Saturday in Jacksonville.
