  • In the LSU vs Auburn odds, it’s the visiting Tigers from Louisiana who are 8-point road favorites over the Tigers from Auburn in their college football game on Saturday, October
  • Auburn has won the last two meetings with LSU
  • LSU is 1-3 straight up in the last four games at Auburn

LSU (3-1, 3-1 ATS) is an 8-point road favorite at Auburn (3-1, 0-4 ATS) on Saturday, which on the one hand is great for the Tigers, but then again, not so great for the Tigers.

In this battle of Tigers, it’s the LSU version that oddsmakers see roaring to victory. If so, it will be going against the recent college football betting trends.

Auburn is 3-1 straight up in the past four home games against LSU. As well, LSU is 3-7 against the spread in the last 10 meetings with Auburn.

This will be the first road game of the season for Louisiana State. LSU was 1-5 SU and 2-4 ATS on the road last season. This will be Auburn’s fifth straight home game to start the season. The Tigers are 2-8 ATS in their last 10 home games.

The kickoff for this game at Jordan-Hare Stadium is set for 7:00 pm ET on Saturday, October 1. The weather forecast is predicting clear skies, 6 mph wind and a temperature of 83 degrees. The broadcast of the game can be seen on ESPN.

LSU vs Auburn Betting Trends

At moneyline odds of -320, LSU is offering an implied probability of victory of 76.19% in the CFB odds. A successful $10 wager on LSU would be delivering a payout of $13.10.

In terms of NCAA public betting trends, it’s Brian Kelley’s team that is garnering healthy support in both moneyline and point-spread wagering. LSU is getting 87% of the handle and 69% of bets on the spread. Moneyline bettors are backing the purple and gold with 55% of the handle and 86% of the bets. It’s the over that the public is hitting the hardest on the total. There’s 55% of the public handle and 65% of bets going with the over as the play.

Auburn is 2-2 on the total this season. Meanwhile, the total has gone under in seven of LSU’s last 10 games.

In NCAA future bets, the LSU Tigers are at +20000 in the National Championship odds. Auburn is at +50000 to win the CFP. LSU is the +5000 co-seventh betting choice to capture the SEC title. Auburn is the ninth pick to take the SEC at +20000.

Louisana State Defense Stiffening

Last week, for the first time since 2018, LSU posted a shutout. The Tigers blanked New Mexico 38-0. In the process, they held the Lobos to two first downs and 88 yards of total offense.

One week earlier, LSU held Mississippi State to just 16 points. The Bulldogs are averaging 41.7 points over their other three games this season.

Offensively, Louisiana State has rushed for more than 200 yards in each of the past three games.

Auburn Coach Harsin On Hot Seat

The pressure is mounting on the shoulders of Auburn head coach Bryan Harsin. Only a bizarre Missouri goal line fumble in overtime preserved a 17-14 Tigers victory and may have saved Harsin’s job. Another loss coming on the heels of their 41-12 home loss to Penn State likely would have sealed Harsin’s fate.

Minus injured quarterback TJ Finley, Auburn’s offense is stuck in neutral. The Tigers rank 89th in the nation in total offense, averaging 376.8 yards per game. The rushing game also appears to be running in quicksand. Over the past three games, running back Tank Bigsby is averaging 3.3 yards per carry over the past three games (41 carries, 134 yards). He ran for 147 yards in the season-opening win over Mercer.

LSU vs Auburn Prediction

LSU isn’t part of the AP top 25. However, ESPN places the Tigers seventh in their college football power index.  The line on this game opened at LSU -6.5 and has continued to lengthen in favor of the Bayou Bengals.

LSU has won just twice at Auburn since 2010, each victory coming by a two-point margin. But Auburn hasn’t been this bad in a long time. They’re 13th in the SEC in offense. The Tigers have surrendered 7.25 tackles per loss per game and 2.75 sacks per game so far this season.

Pick: LSU Tigers -8 (-110).
