Has Georgia Taken Foot Off the Gas?

Kirby Smart’s team came out slowly against rivals Georgia Tech on Saturday. Despite the Bulldogs’ 37-14 victory, many fans were left wondering whether the defending national champions would be vulnerable versus LSU. Georgia Tech, a 35.5-point underdog, was down by only a field goal at the half, and the rivalry game was still a one-possession contest midway through the third quarter.

That being said, the Bulldogs are the most dominant team in college football. The Bulldogs rank in the top ten on both sides of the football in points per game, yards per game, points per play, and yards per play.

Moreover, Kirby Smart’s defense has been just as dominant as last year’s unit. Georgia also boasts the best red zone defense in the nation, allowing opponents to score a touchdown on just 64% of trips inside the 20. LSU will have its hands full.

Can LSU Pull Off the Impossible?

The LSU Tigers have surprised the nation this season. Many fans didn’t know what to expect after head coach Brian Kelly brough his talents from Notre Take to Baton Rouge. This season, LSU has played numerous SEC heavyweights and has looked competitive in its losses. That being said, an uninspiring loss to an underachieving Texas A&M yesterday hardly inspires confidence.

Tigers quarterback Jayden Daniels has been the story of the year. Daniels has completed 68% of his passes while tossing 15 touchdowns and just two interceptions on the season. However, in a disastrous turn of events, Daniels was injured late in the Texas A&M contest and his status for next week’s SEC Championship game is currently up in the air.

While the Tigers have come out on top against a strong Alabama squad, and a red-hot Ole Miss this year, Georgia is a different beast. Without Daniels, LSU may struggle to score against Georgia

Expected Line Movement

The SEC Championship game odds will constantly be updated until kickoff. With Jayden Daniels’ status still unknown, this line might shift in either direction as the game approaches.

As the public loves to bet on Georgia, sharps will likely be all over LSU in this SEC Championship game, so look for the line to shift a few points in the Tigers favor as the week progresses. Be sure to keep an eye on whether Daniels will play before placing your bets.
