Colorado Moving On Up
There’s a pair of threes involved in the shortest spreads among key Power 5 matchups in Week 2 of the college football season. And one of them features the most talked-about school in the nation.
The #22 Colorado Buffaloes are home to Nebraska. Colorado is a 3-point home favorite and the NCAA public betting trends are all over the team coached by Deion (Prime Time) Sanders. In CU vs Nebraska spread splits, Colorado is drawing 88% of handle and 90% of bets.

The Colorado vs Nebraska betting line is certainly interesting as the Buffaloes were listed as seven-point underdogs in this matchup heading into the season. The Buffs’ impressive Week 1 showing, combined with the Cornhuskers’ lackluster outing in their first game, caused a major shift in the spread.
Elsewhere, #23 Texas A&M is a 3-point away pick over Miami (FL).
Ranked #1 in the nation and the +240 chalk in the NCAA Championship odds, the Georgia Bulldogs are a 41.5-point home choice over Ball State. Ohio State, #5 team in the country, also grab a share of the largest spread of Week 2. The Buckeyes are a 41.5 pick at home against Youngstown State.
USC (Again) Issued Largest Total
Maybe it’s time to rename the total in college football betting the Trojan. For the third successive week, it’s the USC game that’s featuring the largest number on the total.
There are some big digits on the board in Week 2. An all-top 25 battle between #20 Ole Miss and #24 Tulane is showing 66.5 points. The game between #18 Oklahoma and SMU is at 68.5 points. Texas Tech and #13 Oregon are given an over/under bar of 69 points.

Still, it’s USC that’s getting the nod. The game between the #6 Trojans and Stanford Cardinal is offering a total of 69.5 points.
Given totals of 66 points (San Jose State) and 63.5 points (Nevada), USC went over in both games. In fact, the Trojans have hit the over in 10 successive contests. Led by QB Caleb Williams, the favorite in the Heisman Trophy odds, USC opened with back-to-back 50+ point games, the first time the Trojans have done that since 2015.
Georgia-Ball State Showing Top-25 Line Movement
There’s been plenty of action on the MAC-tion in the showdown between #1 Georgia and the Ball State Cardinals of the MAC. And perhaps surprisingly, the movement isn’t going toward the nation’s top team.
Georgia failed to cover as 50-point favorites, opening the college football season with a 41-7 win over Tennessee Martin. Ball State lost 44-14 to Kentucky, but nearly covered as 26-point underdogs. A Wildcats 36-yard TD run with seven seconds to play led to a nasty bad beat.
Evidently, that combination of events is creating betting on the Cardinals. The line on this game has shortened from Bulldogs -48.5 to Georgia -41.5. That swing of a touchdown is the largest line movement in any Week 2 game involving a top-25 team.
