  • The Cleveland Browns take on the San Francisco 49ers on Monday Night Football in Week 5
  • Nick Mangold went 1-1 again on his props last week and is now 5-3 on the season (+1.61 units); he’s 7-6 on all his bets (-0.19 units)

It wasn’t a matter of two yards holding me back from going 2-0 last week, but I can’t help but feel robbed on my James Conner rushing yards prop. His line was listed at 69.5, but he only racked up 42.

However, he added 83 receiving yards, 31 of which came on essentially running plays that saw his backfield mate, Jaylen Samuels, pop the ball up to him, counting it as a pass. Those extra 31 yards would have put me over!!

But we still made it out with a small profit. So onto Week 5 we go, which sees the Cleveland Browns head to San Francisco to take on the 49ers on Monday Night Football – October 7 at 8:15pm ET. Here’s what I’m going with:

Prop #1: Nick Chubb Rushing Yards

Nick Chubb Rushing Yards Odds
Over 84.5 +127
Under 84.5 -167

*All odds taken October 7

Nick Chubb exploded for 165 rushing yards in Week 4 against a Ravens defense that had only allowed 181 yards on the ground in their previous three games this season.

The second-year back now faces a 49ers defense that is allowing just 3.4 yards per carry in 2019, the third-fewest in the league.

Freddie Kitchens had been a little caught up in getting his star wide receivers involved during the first two weeks of the season, resulting in Chubb seeing 17 and 18 carries, respectively. But he’s starting to see that handing the ball off a handful more times per game is more beneficial for his team.

First of all, Chubb is a very talented runner. This is the kind of guy you don’t take touches away from. Second, Baker Mayfield is still a younger guy who doesn’t need to throw the ball 35+ times per game. And finally, we’ve seen their offensive line struggle in pass protection this season. Allowing them to pound away at the defense a few more times per game will slow down that rush.

I expect Kitchens to continue feeding Chubb and like him to break a couple big ones. Give me the over on his rushing yards.

Prop #2: Baker Mayfield Passing Yards

Baker Mayfield Passing Yards Odds
Over 261.5 -167
Under 261.5 +127

Not only do I like Chubb to have success on the ground tonight, but I’m also liking Mayfield to go over his passing total as well.

The Niners will be without starting corner Ahkello Witherspoon, which is bad news when you’re facing the duo of Odell Beckham Jr and Jarvis Landry.

Mayfield has surpassed 262 passing yards in three of his four starts this season, and will do so again on Monday night. Give me the over here as well!
