The visiting Cleveland Browns and Cincinnati Bengals will both try to get back on track when they meet at 1:00 p.m. ET Sunday at Paul Brown Stadium in an AFC North matchup.

Both teams lost last week, the Browns falling at home to the Pittsburgh Steelers 15-10 and the Bengals dropping a 34-31 decision on the road to the New York Jets.

The Browns (4-4) have lost three of their last four games following a 3-1 start to fall into last place in the division. The Bengals (5-3) had a two-game winning streak snapped last Sunday and trail the first-place Baltimore Ravens (5-2) by 0.5 game.

In a game televised by CBS, the Bengals are 2.5-point favorites.

The Bengals opened as 2.5-point favorites and the line has held steady throughout the week. While 55% of the bets have been on the Bengals, 70% of the handle has been on the Browns’ side.

It is expected to be a sunny day in Cincinnati with a high temperature of 61 degrees and no wind.

Browns vs Bengals Recent History

Wide receiver Jarvis Landry had a rough day in the Browns’ loss to the Steelers as he lost a fumble and couldn’t handle two Baker Mayfield passes in the final 6:04.

Though Joe Burrow threw for 259 yards and three touchdowns against the Jets, the Bengals couldn’t hold the 31-20 lead they built midway through the fourth quarter.

The Bengals lead the all-time series 51-44 but the Browns have won five of the past six games, including sweeping the season series last year. In the teams’ last game, the Browns prevailed 37-34 in Week 7 at Cincinnati in 2020 as Mayfield threw for 297 yards and five touchdowns.

Browns Offense vs Bengals Defense

The Browns will be without wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., who will be released early next week. Beckham’s stay with the Browns became untenable when his father posted an 11-minute video to social media this week showing times Mayfield did not throw to his son when he was open.

Beckham doesn’t figure to be a big loss, though. He has caught just 17 passes in six games this season for 232 yards and no touchdowns.

The Browns have managed just 41 points in their last three games after scoring 28.4 points in their first five games. Coach Kevin Stefanski’s play calling has come into question in recent weeks.

Furthermore, Mayfield is playing with a broken left (non-throwing) shoulder and tackles Jedrick Wills Jr. and Jack Conklin are both injured.

Bengals Offense vs Browns Defense

Burrow has thrown at least two touchdowns passes in all eight games this season. He put up decent number last week despite an off day by wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase, the odds-on favorited to win NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year.

Chase had just three receptions on nine targets for 32 yards and a TD. However, the first-round draft pick leads the NFL with 20.7 yards a reception while making 38 catches for 786 yards and seven scores.

The Bengals are 11th in the NFL in passing offense while the Browns stand seventh in pass defense.

Browns vs Bengals Injury Report

Five Browns are listed as questionable for Sunday: tight end Harrison Bryant (thigh), defensive ends Jadaveon Clowney (ankle, knee, hip) and Takkarist McKinley (groin), wide receiver Donovan Peoples-Jones (groin) and cornerback Denzel Ward (hamstring).

Questionable for the Bengals are defensive end Cam Sample (knee), halfback Chris Evans (hamstring) and wide receiver Auden Tate (thigh).

Browns vs Bengals Prediction

The Bengals’ loss to Jets was rather inexplicable but feels like a bump in the road. Conversely, the Browns have the feel of a team whose season has fallen apart.

Look for Cincinnati to get back on the winning track.

The Pick: Bengals -2.5 (-106)
