The Tampa Bay Buccaneers look to snap a four-game SU losing streak on the road when they visit the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday Night Football in NFL Week 16 action.

The Bucs travel to the desert in the wake of a 34-23 defeat at the hands of the Cincinnati Bengals that marked their third loss in four games. Already eliminated from playoff contention, the injury-hobbled Cardinals limp into Sunday’s contest riding a four-game losing streak.

Let’s dive into the Buccaneers vs Cardinals odds and find the best bet for Sunday Night Football.

Buccaneers vs Cardinals Recent History

Sunday night’s matchup marks the first meeting between these teams since 2019. The Buccaneers tallied a 30-27 win when they hosted the Cardinals three years ago, but it is Arizona that has held the upper hand in head-to-head action, winning three of four including a pair of impressive home victories, and has also covered in four straight dates with the Bucs.

These teams have combined to run up the score in their two most recent clashes, averaging 64 total points over their past two clashes, and have topped 60 in three of their past five dates, fueling a 3-2 run for the OVER.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers Betting Outlook

The Buccaneers cling to a slender one-game lead atop the NFC South standings despite losing two straight to fall to 6-8 SU on the season. The team has struggled to contain opposing offenses during their current two-game slide, allowing 34.5 points per game while falling to defeat by an average margin of 19.5 points in their losses to the 49ers and Bengals.

Tampa Bay’s current swoon extends what has been a dismal performance at the sportsbooks this season. The Bucs are winless against the spread in four straight, and have covered just once in their past 12 contests, including three straight outright losses as road chalk.

The Bucs’ recent woes are not helped by their continuing battle with injuries. While Tom Brady is coming off a steady three-TD performance in last week’s 34-23 loss to Cincinnati, he must overcome injuries to his offensive line that have hobbled Tristan Wirfs, Donovan Smith, Josh Wells. That could make for a long night for TB12 against a rejuvenated Cardinals pass defense has allowed just one total score over the past two weeks and racked up seven sacks in last week’s loss in Denver.

Arizona Cardinals Betting Outlook

Already missing star quarterback Kyler Murray, who is out for the season with an injury, things went from bad to worse for the Cardinals last weekend as backup pivot Colt McCoy suffered a concussion that has sidelined him indefinitely. That opens the door for Trace McSorley to make his first career NFL start on Sunday night. The 27-year-old struggled after taking over the reins in relief of McCoy last weekend, completing just seven of 15 pass attempts for 95 yards and no scores, while tossing two picks.

Accordingly, it could be shaping up as a busy night for James Conner. The Cards running back has buoyed the offense with five touchdown runs and one scoring pass over his past five outings, and offers intriguing vale as a +111 bet to top 69.5 rushing yards against a Bucs defense that has allowed 19.3 rushing yards per game and six total scoring runs over their past three road contests.

However, the Cardinals face a challenge to rewrite the script on what has become a losing tradition when playing in primetime. Arizona has lost SU in six of their past seven games played under the lights and is 2-9-1 SU in 12 primetime appearances since October 2016.

Buccaneers vs Cardinals Prediction

It is tough to get enthusiastic about the Buccaneers, who have emerged as somewhat undeserving favorites. With top spot in the NFC South on the line, Tampa Bay has lots to play for, but wagers on the Bucs in what is shaping up as a losing scoring affair are strictly for those with a strong stomach.
